What do you use for your tuna fish that is less fattening than mayo/miracle whip?? I was thinking mustard?

    cottage cheese or plain yogurt.

    I've used mustard. I've also used a couple teaspoons of vanilla flavored lite yogurt and OMG is that good!

    I second cottage cheese. I like to mix in avocado and tomatoes.

    Plain yogurt and a squeeze of lemon juice is very nice :)

    I still use mayo.. just extra light mayo instead of the normal.

    Here is my favorite recipe for Tuna Salad.
    1 can of tuna, white albacore in water, drained
    2 tsp. Gulden's Spicy Brown Mustard
    1 Tbsp. Kraft Light Mayo
    1 Tbsp. sweet pickle relish
    1/2 Tbsp. pimento
    1 tsp. dried dill weed
    splash of lemon juice

    1/4 cup has 98 calories 4 carbs 4 fat and 12 protein

    I broil slices of Italian bread till toasty on one side, flip them over and add tuna (from the vacuum packed envelope cause it's drier), a dash of ground red pepper if you want, and a sprinkle of reduced fat mozzarella. Back under the broiler till the cheese melts. My teen-aged son likes these, too.

    I've heard of using low-fat yogurt instead of mayo in other salads, like egg or potato. Don't see why that wouldn't work in tuna salad just as well.

    And, the tuna in the envelopes comes in different flavors, too. We prefer Teriyaki, but there are 4 different flavors, I think. Maybe you wouldn't even need a mix if you found a flavor you liked?

    I use regular mayo but only 1 tablespoon and 1 tablespoon of relish. My wife uses the light mayo.
  • I like to mix in Frank's red hot sauce (just a little bit). It gives the tuna a great flavor and it doesn't add much to it. It's great on a salad, cracker, bread, or by itself!
  • i always used to do lemon, plain yogurt, red chilli pepper, black pepper... etc

    now im in love with SALSA! the salsa thats for chips n salsa.
    2 tbsp=10 calories

    i get the HOT one too =] its sooo good!

    Olive oil.

    Yeah, it's fat. But it's an extremely good way to get healthy fat into your diet and so much better than the "fake" oils used in mayo.

    I love Relish a little of lemon and Djion mustard. Also I make my one low cal Ranch dressing.

    3/4 cup Plain yogurt I use 0%
    1/4 cup Kraft fat free Miralce whip
    garlic powder
    Onion powder
    red pepper flakes for a kick
    You can put whatever spices you would like that is may fav. Enjoy!

    I found Mayo with evoo and it has less calories and fat then normal mayo, and tastes better too!
  • ooooo some1 said olive oil and reminded me of my favorite way to have tuna!

    1 tsp olive oil, a juice of a small lemon, hot peppers... enjoy =]

    My husband likes ff ranch. Or I make tuna patties, 1 can tuna, 2 eggs, one roll of crackers(your choice, i use walmart brand), add seasonings, mix then pan fry in coconut oil or light veggie oil.

    Tuna patties sound pretty good!

    I am a freak I just eat the tuna plain with some crispbread or on a salad with some lemon. LItehouse has a yogurt ranch dressing with Kefir that is pretty good and not bad health wise http://www.litehousefoods.com/whats-fresh/new-yogurt-dressing-kefir

    Me too. I grew up with mayo in my tuna and dont really like it any other way, I just use lite mayo and I only use one servings worth...its really not all that bad calorie wise, I eat it all the time

    I still use miracle whip. Otherwise, a sandwich, just isn't a sandwich.

    Fresh diced tomatos, diced boiled egg, lemon juice, fresh ground black pepper, dash of celery seeds, 1 teaspoon mayo, 1 tablespoon mustard and the tuna. Mix it all up and throw it on top of shreded salad greens. Or in a sandwich of you prefer.

    Also works with leftover salmon or shrimp.

    I've used a bit of olive oil just to help hold it together. Tastes good, binds ok.
    I've never been a fan of mayo but this is the one recipe where i'll use a small dollop.
    As little as I can get away with.

    I add tuna to my greek salad (tomato, cucumber, feta, olives, red wine vinaigrette).
