    Pardon?

My friend has been recovering from frozen shoulder. She was off games for 6 months, and has been back playing for 6 months, with limited mobility.

She has been told that recovery is dependent upon individual physiology, and to play it by ear,

Listen to your doctor. Consider hiking or using a treadmill in the meantime to maintain some fitness level.

A relative of mine had frozen shoulder. As I recall, it took several months for him to recover. I would ask your doctor what kind of exercise you can pursue.

I had frozen shoulder about three years ago. (Sorry you have it--it is painful!). The thing that helped me most was physical therapy and adhering rigorously to the home exercises they prescribed. My PT told me that the worst thing was to do nothing. Gentle exercise. I don't see why you would have any problem with things like using the elliptical, biking, walking, running. LOTS of stuff! I would think that you wouldn't be able to do stuff like lifting, but there is plenty at the gym to do. Do go to Physical Therapy and get their advice and a good home program. Wishing you a speedy recovery

If you can, Asrar, it does make it easier to understand what you're asking. I try to be sensitive to others' command of language, because I'm a learner of other languages too! Usually I can understand what is meant, and if not, I try to nicely ask for clarification.

Are you in the United States? If so, I would recommend looking for an Airrosti provider. It will hurt like heck, but it can fix it more quickly. Average is only three visits!

Do not wait to get it treated. The longer you wait, the longer (exponentially) it will take to recover and the more pain you will have to endure!

    How is your shoulder healing?

Mine took a year to heal and it still isn't 100%.

Been there! Both shoulders within 6 months of each other. The right shoulder actually refroze two weeks after surgery. Work the legs as much as you can. Obviously, can't do weights for shoulders, etc. Is he doing PT for you? Good luck!

Hi, I've also had a frozen shoulder which has lasted years and still got limited movement in it, the most important thing is to do the physical therapy exercises everyday and it will improve through time, however I having seen the therapist and the consultant both told me it was alright to continue with lifting weights. I just adapted the ones I couldn't do and continued to lift.
Each person is different so ask whilst you are there, it certainly speeded up my recovery as it was worse when I didn't lift, as I stopped lifting at first till I asked the consultant .Hope you recover quickly!

What did you do to the shoulder / what is the injury like since I've never had it?

I'm carrying a minor rotator cuff injury at the moment, but working some rehab exercises in every session for it.

I was going to suggest to the person that was correcting the OP's post they might want to check their own spelling since they didn't use any capital letters. But it seems due to MFP's policies I can't do that...

Many time you don't have to do much to injure it. I was just opening a window. I couldn't lift my arm above my shoulder for ages. It just would not go. I had lots of therapy for it. Only now I am starting to weight train again. It is still very weak.

I would like to do Insanity or Chalean but they really do far too many shoulder exercises.

For what it's worth, doing high rep, low weight and VERY strict form face pulls seems to be helping my shoulder a lot. I don't know what your range of movement is like at the moment though, so I don't know if you'll be able to raise your arms enough to do it.

I did my minor RC injury on ONE bad bench press rep. So easy to do it.

Am having this issue. Began PT a few weeks ago. I'm interested in what adaptions you made, since am losing weight but also lean muscle as well. I'd like to be able to try to do a heavy/strong lifting program(s) which usually involves dead lifts, squats, and bench press.

I do deadlifts, squats and bench presses, I think the main thing is to keep doing your pt exercises everyday as this will help you gain more movement in time, do not expect it to be instant, frozen shoulders can take a few years and you may not gain all your movement back.

I started off using lighter weights for deadlifts, squats bench press, this in turn along with the PT exercises helped me gain more movement faster, the only real problem I had at the time was the movement in the bench press and squats, for the bench press I used the lightest weight and just lifted my arms as far as I could without pushing the movement too far. I also did it little and often.

For the squats which I did and still do to some extent have a problem with the arm I had the problem with I shortened the grip and tried with just the bar at first, I had difficulty getting it off my shoulders so if you could get someone to help you with that or a stand that would be great!

As for the dead lift I didn't have any real problems with that but then that might have been because as I built up my strength using the dumbbells, that was when I started using the bar so I would have started off very light on the weights and I also started to do pull ups which I think helped me a great deal.
