Hiya
I am just wondering how everyone else splits their calories throughout the day?
I read somewhere that it is best to eat more in the day for breakfast and lunch than for your evening meal, but I always seem to eat the most cals for my evening meal...Is it worth eating a more calorific lunch and having a light dinner??

I know, I am doing it wrong. But this is the way it usually works out for me ...
Bfast - 300
Lunch - 400-600
Dinner - 300-600
Snacks - 100 (2-3x daily)0 -
Whatever works for you. Your body doesn't care when you feed it. I'm not usually hungry first thing so I don't eat much breakfast, lunch is often a grab and go so supper is my bigger meal. Just stay in your budget and eat when it suits your life.0

I love breakfast.... Most of my calories go here
Lunch is always something light, Ie Ryvitas/Rice Cakes with eggs/toms/cucumbers/carrots
Fruit/Yoghurts/Slices of ham/Salads/Soups
Dinner is whatever is on the menu.......I always try to work out min of 4 times a week. I reckon I net about 1600/1700 cals a day0 -
I think it depends on how much your daily intake is. I've heard that too about breakfast, but it depends daily for me. Mine at the moment is 1500 daily and it's usually:
Breakfast: 300
Lunch:300-500
Dinner: 500-600
Snack: 100-2000 -
I know it flies in the face of all advice, but I eat most of my calories in the evening.
I usually don't eat anything at all until I've been up a good 4 or 5 hours, and then I have breakfast at my desk at around 9.30 - 10am.
Breakfast is often as low as 140 calories (I love Weetabix Crunchy Bran served dry in a bowl - 40g fills me up all morning), but sometimes I do have a skinny latte at the same time, which bumps it closer to 250 calories.
Lunch is usually a salad, and often comes in well below 200 calories.
So that leaves me by far my biggest calorie allowance for the evening - often I have 800 or 900 calories left by the time we sit down to dinner at about 6.30pm, then straight after dinner I eat my snack of an All Bran breakfast biscuit and a piece or two of fruit. I call it a snack but it's effectively dessert, as I eat it straight after dinner. I very, very rarely eat anything after 7.30pm, though I drink coffee with skimmed milk right up to bedtime.
The reason I do this is that for breakfast and lunch I'm at work 5 days out of 7, so I don't really care how repetitive, uninspiring and low-calorie the meals are. It's purely functional eating, to fuel my body until I get home (though I do try to make my salads as colourful, multi-textured, nutritious and flavoursome as possible).
Dinner, on the other hand, is a sociable meal, where hubby and I sit down together to a meal that he's lovingly prepared whilst I've been at work. I like to save my calories for enjoying that meal without having to make too many tweaks or amendments to it - sometimes I'll go without butter on my bread, or have my hubby's homemade lamb ragu in a grilled pepper rather than with a plate of pasta, but most of the time I eat the same food at dinner as my hubby (and my portion size is often the same too!).
I know that flies in the face of recognised wisdom about the importance of breakfast etc, but it seems to be working for me...I've lost almost 75lbs in the past 45 weeks!0 -
My average day looks like this:
morning (coffee with milk) - 230
Lunch - 300
afternoon snack - 200-300
Dinner - 800-1000
PM snack - 200
I'm like you, OP - most of my calories for dinner0 -
I like to pre-log breakfast and lunch and 1 snack so I see what I have left for after work. Average breakdown: 300 breakfast 200-300 morning snack 300-400 for lunch this leaves me personally with 950-750 left for the day. I like to eat more in the evening too!0
