First day

Hi...this is my first day. I am excited but also scared. I like my food!! I decided I needed to do something about the shape I am in because I am 69 years old and I do not want to lose the ability to walk or take care of myself down the road. I take care of my mother (she just turned 100 this month). She has been in a few nursing homes...I DO NOT WANT TO GO THERE!! The only way I know of to keep out of those places is to learn to take care of myself. I have never been a fan of exercise or eating healthy, but I am finally willing to give it a serious try.

    welcome!

i think the thing that most people dont know is that healthy food isnt all salads and yucky things. it can be much more satisfying and indulgent feeling than people expect it to. hopefully that'll be your experience too~

Hello! Welcome to the "club" I agree. "Healthy" doesn't always mean wheatgrass and tofu... it can be as simple as finding healthier versions of the foods you love or just plain having LESS of them at a time. Take small steps at a time (for example, first concentrate on adding water too your day and/ or getting 15 minutes of exercise in then add another step after a week , etc) and you may find it easier to "deal with".

MFP is great support if you let it. Use the forums (just ignore the nasties, if you get them, and concentrate on those trying to help sincerely), collect friends, and log everything - you'll do great :flowerforyou:

You're right. Adding water would be good. I don't drink enough of it for sure. Slow & steady wins the race.
