Trying not to get bummed out here!!!! There are just too many highs and lows in this!!!! Now, my first month back was impressive. I lost about 9lbs, okay great!!!! But my weight has been fluctuating so much!!!! Yesterday morning, I weighed myself. It was about 5 days after my last weigh-in!!!! Cool!!! It showed I lost about 1.4lbs....,HOWEVER, today there was a 2.2 lb change in the scale-UP!!!! Okay so this is really putting a damper in my holiday plans because tomorrow is officially my weigh-in day, and I am afraid if I eat mac and cheese, or a hot dog, and chase it down with some alcohol that the scale is going to go up ANOTHER 3-5lbs!!!!! I don't believe this is "muscle building" as I have too much to lose before all that happens. I just don't know what is going on. Feel free to add me so you all can see my diary!!!! I always meet my calorie goals, have started to eat back calories when I exercise!!! I realize that usually go over my protein and don't eat enough of the carbs, but my fat stays around 30% for the day. Just frustrating because this is always the point in my weight loss that it just stalls no matter what I do.....and I always quit!!!! I don't want to quit but I do want to see more results!!!!!

Always Weigh yourself at the same time of the day. most of the time its best to do it first thing in the morning after you use the restroom and before you have your first glass of water. Your weight can fluctuate up to 2 lb in one day in water weight. Don't get discouraged. your doing great. I hope i can lose 9 pounds in one month. Good luck and don't worry your doing great.0

If you are eating at a deficit you are not building muscle. Also, it is normal to have weight fluctuations.0 -
don't quit...i know frustration is natural. my body weight fluctuates daily -- i know i shouldn't weigh myself daily, but i do, since i promised i would not allow myself to get discouraged by what the scale says. i found my body was holding on to water when i started using heavier weights during my routine (i am on day 28 of jillian michaels' 30 day shred), so i just added a little more cardio (fast walking/jogging), upped my water intake, and lowered my carbs a few days a week, kept a closer eye on sodium, and things went back to normal. i've been at this for 3 months, and have lost about 30 pounds, but a lot of inches.
just stay strong and don't give up. you won't see results if you get discouraged. honestly, if i can do this, anyone can. i could barely due 1 sit-up during the first day of 30 day shred, and now i can easily do 150 different varieties in 3 minutes.0 -

The key to eating what you want is portion control. You can plan these foods into your day, but you'll have to count the calories and only take a little.. Measure or weigh the mac and cheese. Hotdogs are pretty standard, until you start piling on condiments. Both contain quite a bit of sodium and can cause temporary water weight gain. Weight loss is a slow process. Set yourself up for success.0 -
Only thing I can think of is that my sodium tended to be a little high....but I think I am okay since I am eating mostly organic now....we will see what happens. Thanks for the advice and support guys!!!!0

I fluctuate all the time. If I've exercised hard I think the muscles swell and retain water. Hormonal changes during the month. Eating to much sodium. And sometimes I think the scale just hates me. One thing I have done is devote a calendar just for my weight loss. I record my weight, my exercise, and I measure once a month and record that. This helps me recognize patterns. It also helps if I look, ok, I am up 3 lbs from last week but I am down from 2 months ago. I also keep a shirt or dress or something in a size to small and try it on ocassionally. I went months once without losing but we t down a dress size. It is so hard to not let the scale discourage us but just keep up the good work and you will see progress.0

I know that it can be discouraging to see weight gain especially since you had just lost some. I only weigh myself every Friday and at the same time b/c I don't like to see all of the ups and downs during the week. If I eat food higher in sodium then I tend to gain a little weight. If I do weight myself during the week sometimes (I just can't help it) then I do my best not to let it discourage me. Typically after eating good and drinking water for the next day or 2 that weight is usually gone. Don't focus on a number on a scale, put your focus on other things like how many inches you lose, body fat decreases, clothing fitting better and overall feeling better. We are more than a number on a scale and we should not let those numbers dictate our emotions and our worth. Just my 2 cents. Trust me, it was a struggle for me and still is from time to time. Getting discouraged isn't going to get you to where you want to be but forging on and staying strong will!!0
