Sometime n 2004 I was diagnosed with a mobility disorder called ataxia. "Man what a loss...."(filling sorry 4 my self). From 1998-2001 I spent the majority of my time n a gym. I was extreamly fit! 6% body fat & 155 lbs all my intrests took place outdoors. I quickly went from an easy 3 mil n 24mi(I wasent an athlete & my ataxia was around all my life didnt know it then; but not too bad.) to not being able to run @ all. (what a pity party!)
Jan 1 2009 I was LAZY & 188lbs, I desided to do what doctors told me I couldn't. After alot of sweat & talking to God, April 2009 I was 148lbs. I turned my focus from the spare tire around my waist & the visible signs of muscle loss to weight gain & strength gain. Im back to an eazy 155lb bench press & I am running on an eliptical cross trainer.

Enough bragging about my succus story...!!! Now Im 157lbs 13% body fat & loosing my motivation. Any words of motivation or criticism r welcome (just dont go near my spelling!!!!!!! LOL)

O my key to the fast weight loss was consistent cardio(burning more calories than I took n), a good lifting program, & im a fitness instructor so its what i do all day.

Listen, you have done amazing things for yourself!! Don't give up. It is normal though to lose motiviation but just keep going. I am struggling with that myself. However, I find that once I start I don't want to stop. :) So keep going, and celebrate your victory cause you sure earned it.

Just realize what a great accomplishment you have acheived and look at it as a gift to yourself for yourself because you deserve it. And show those doctors what for!! Now go get em! :drinker:

    There, did that work??

I totally understand, after a big injury on New Year's eve I managed to gain 35 lbs back and I felt like I was stuck, then just as I started to feel better another old injury flared up and I lost all motivation. I woke up a few weeks ago and said to myself no more excuses and I have had a great month, I feel better, I have more energy blah blah, you know what happens.

My best advice is to just say to yourself that you know you can do this and get to maintenance (if not already) and that you owe it to yourself to keep going. The first few days were rough but I'm so glad I did it!

As far as the tickers most people get them from tickerfactory.com!

I am proud of you. I wasted a lot of time feeling sorry for myself when I discovered that my degenerative disc disease was going to effect all aspects of my life. I wasted time letting muscle turn to fat, and blaming it on my condition. I have taken the step of leaving the self pity and working on what I can when I can. This year I lost 10 pounds then spent two months in recovery gaining some of it back, then I got up and started over. This year so far I have lost 20 (some of it twice). I am going to keep at this. Knowing that you faced bigger problems without giving up is inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

I broke my pelvis in May this year and was on bedrest for 5 weeks, with severely restricted mobility after that. I am only just getting back to full fitness now and any vigorous weight bearing exercise is not allowed for at least another 4 weeks. However I am trying not to let it get me down - I am doing gentle walking and some swimming, watching my calories intake and I will do it! Congratulations on your phenomenal weight loss, what an inspiration!

Good job! I love it when people can prove the doctors wrong! As a trainer I am sure you know how to go about firming up what you have and gaining muscle if you feel the need. Keep your eye on your goal and I am sure you will be able to do what you want to do!

Thanks The first one is at tickerfactory.com the other one is at http://www.magicalkingdoms.com/timers/

at magical kingdoms ticker you go under weight loss, but first you are supposed to create a user name and password and I can't find where?? So as of right now I can't change it!~~ If you find where the spot to create a user name is let me know!!
  • I am knowing how you feel, I have an autoimmune disease (one that causes me to go to the bathroom alot) so whenever id start working out, I would have to run to the bathroom....but I didnt let that get me down, I had surgery and now I dont have to worry about that anymore, and I have lost 14lbs, its just about becoming as healthy as you can be.
  • I think you should get a picture of that spare tire to carry around with you!!! :) Or maybe even get one of those body vests with the 30lbs. of weight in it to wear around on the days that you are feeling UNmotivated. I think that would get you back into motiation mode. :) Way to go at loseing the 30lbs. in 3 months though. I have been going into our fitness center 5 days a week for the last 4 weeks and 3 days a week 7 weeks prior to that and I have only lost 10lbs. I am pissed as hell about it. and getting really discouraged too. What kind of diet did you have to help you lose that much weight so fast? I really need to lose some more weight fast to help me get motivated again. Again GREAT JOB! And I am sure you will find the motivation you need.

Carter: I am not a dietitian so I can't give " diet advice" but u asked "what I did" so I can answer that. I made sure my cardio was burning more than I took n (cals). Then I added a stringy training program to gane musle thus making the"fat burning process", associated n cardio, more efficient.

I hope that helps. Don't over do your work outs. Lisen to your body & eat smart! Good luck. Ask anything else.
  • wow... I don't know if I can give you any motivation, but you sure did motivate me with your story!! THANKS!
  • MrsMillian14lbs!!!! Great!!!!! I'll send u a FB note of mine.
