Hey guys so just recently i started working out, (monday) and ive done so much research its crazy and im just so confused and have so many questions because theyres just so many different options on what to eat and what workouts to do. I would really really highly appreciate it if you guys can help
So im 18 years old (male) and weigh at about 135 pounds
im 5'6 (yeah short :/)
just recently i learned about body fat and how body fat works and all (i figured out about 13-14% body fat)
im actually really skinny (hence the weight) but not too much, i just want to gain muscle but stay lean and have abs
my abs dont show and from research it seems its the body fat i need to get rid of, i also learned that its all about what you eat.
im so lost right now i have no idea what im doing when it comes to that, when i first started going to the gym all i cared about was getting big and eating all you can eat to get big, which is extremely easy, now i figured that it would just make me puffy and fat. but i want to look like those hollywood stars that arent too big but are just right and are lean (anyone seen magic mike, awkward i know, watched it with girl cousin, forced me over a bet) but i realized thats how i wanted to get,
so im reall trying my best at the gym right now, but from what ive seen no mattter how you do in the gym if you dont take care of watching what you eat, i will never look like that, so if you guys could please help me and tell me some cheap meals that i could eat throughout the day would be REALLY awesome.
i currently eat 3 times a day, but if i need to make it more then i will do my best to make it happen.
what should i eat for breakfast? (food and drink)
what should i eat for dinner? (food and drink)
what should i eat before i go to sleep? (food and drink)
any snacks i should eat in between them?
is there a need to add lunch?
it would be really helpful if you could provide the full names of the food and if its something complicated that i have to make myself instead of shopping for it if you could please provide a link to an instructional video or something,
or if i can just go and buy would be much better and less stressful,
THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS, I promise i will try my best to have a transformation and prove everyone thats currently trying to put me down and saying what im doing is stupid, wrong.
thank you again !!

(p.s) posted this twice on a another forum because i didn't know in which it would fit better, really sorry)

If you want to just gain muscle, then as long as you have a balanced healthy diet, with a calories surplus, then you'll put muscle on.

But if you want to do it faster, eat excess protein just after your workout, and eat carbs before the workout.

But I'm not an expert, there'll probably be others better qualified than me

Information overload much.. do the things you can understand for now. Save the more complicated things for later.
  • Well first don't strive for Magic Mike status, these guys work out 2x a day and are on very strict diets to get ready for these roles. In fact the new super man Henry Cavill actually admitted to practically starve himself in order to get that ripped look. I've also been involved in the Fitness Competition circuit which is also extremely unhealthy. These men and women ( even victoria secret models) go to great lengths like not drinking water, using diuretics, eating 0 salt, very strict diets ect, to achieve these bodies.

Instead I hope you can be happy with eating a healthy diet and gaining some muscle mass, while losing some fat. This is definitely possible.

    1. If you have a hard time gaining muscle/gaining weight its important to eat throughout the day, but to eat the right foods. The best thing you can eat is meals consisting of protein and veggies. A good example would be a veggie filled omelette for breakfast, hard boiled eggs for snacks, grilled chicken and veggies for lunch, salmon and veggies for dinner. Basically its a low carb, high protein diet which will do wonders for building muscle.

    2. You have to lift heavy enough to complete 8-10reps In Good Form!! and do 3 sets of each exercise

    3. Split your muscle groups into as many days as possible. If you lift weights 3 days a week try, legs...arms..back/chest..You can look online for different variations and do what you like best, but you want to concentrate on individual muscles to achieve the best muscle gain.

It sounds like your main focus is muscle gain and not weight loss correct? if this is the case it comes down to eating the right foods, often throughout the day. i would aim for 5-6 meals. And lifting heavy. I also like to do drop sets on my clients who have difficulty lifting heavy. That would mean doing bicep curls with say 20lbs to failure and then immediately dropping the weight to 15lbs and continuing until failure again and then dropping to 10lbs.
