forcing yourself to eat when not hungry to get your calories in?
Seems since I have started eating healthier I am staying full longer and eating smaller portions. The last few days I have been under my calorie goal (today I went under before I even added exercise). It's almost like I am beinf forced to eat despite being hungry, which is why I got where I am today (fat). But I also wonder if that is why I have reached a plateou. I haven't gained..but haven't lost in just over a week. I'm stuck and someone told me it was because I am "starving" my body so it is holding onto the fat/food going in instead of burning it off. But I dnt feel hungry....
Kinda seems like a catch 22---u eat when not hungry and gain weight to the point of going over, but if u dnt eat enough and have to eat when not hungry u also are doing harm. It's so frustrating!!!!!!!!! Please tell me I am not alone!

I am too! they keep saying at my end of day I am eating too few calories I'm about 1200 and i'm sedentary due to a disability and a torn meniscus. I hope to begin water exercise next week again. I am still losing weight but it is hard to get all the meals in especially breakfast. I need some good low calorie snacks to fill in the gaps. carbs without sugar. that seems to be where I am not meeting goal.0

Try to eat a food you love to get you, your calorie goal?0
-
Add avocado, nuts and nut butters, olive oil/coconut oil to saute in or add to salads for a dressing, full fat dairy, whole eggs, oily fish like salmon/sardines etc.. no "diet" foods and it's easy to up your calories without junk.0

If I'm under I'm under. I've got days (not all that many as I do try to stick within my goal) when I'm over, I figure it all should work out in the end.
Eating for the sake of eating got me here, so not going to force myself to eat when I'm not hungry. I do get the "warning" I'm eating too little, but it hasn't thrown me in panic mode. I've got a while to go till I get to where I need to be.0 -
No, you're not alone! I've been on a plateau for the past two years and I still have 30 pounds left to lose. It's a good way to get really frustrated, but I refuse to give up. Good luck, and keep on doing what you're doing!0

I have a tree nut and coconut allergy so those "fillers" are out. Avocados..well I'm just trying to find a way to make themk with out tasting like an avocado (I dnt like them). But thanks for the pointers!0 -
Thanks! Good to know I am not alone :-)0

Fattier meat like eat chicken thigh with skin on instead of a skinless breast, mince beef instead of turkey, proper bread instead of those ultra thin whatever you call them in USA or low fat wraps.0 -
I have gotten that before but when I look over the entire week I see it averages out. If I am very short on calories for a couple of days I seem to go over on another day. I would think if it averages out I wouldn't worry about it too much.0

eat some real food. Carrots for lunch?0

Yes, so I quit buying "reduced fat" products. They cut out good stuff, too and add in more sugar and sodium to make up for flavor lost.
Also, maybe bulk up on your breakfasts a bit. They seem to be your most low-cal area.0 -

That was kinda rude. If you had looked at days other than today you would notice I eat "real food" 3x's a day. My baby carrots I had at lunch today was because I was at my part time job where I cashier and instead of grabbing junk food like I normally would've I just grabbed some of the baby carrots I had brought with me and munched on them. By the time I made it home I had eaten a snack that I had in my car and didn't want to eat more cause of how close it was to dinner. I HAD been at work since 6am and if you noticed I had a donut for breakfast before I clocked in..which was NOT healthy but got the sugar I needed for work. So I have a "unsubstantial lunch" one day when a shift was extra early (and I stayed over) sue me. BUT, it wasn't just today. If u had bothered looking at other days over the past 2 weeks I have been under my goal 95% of them..even with 3 solid meals and at least 1 snack.0 -
At A WW, Meeting once our leader once said , quote, "No matter what, you need to eat those points, I don't care if you eat a candy bar! You won't lose." unquote. Now I am not saying run out and buy candy bars. But I think what she actually meant was you do need to eat all the required points. I don't do WW any more, but some things I was taught stuck with me. But I never deprive myself of the food I love. I struggle sometimes getting my calorie goal in, (and other days I am over), am sure we all have days like that. But, if I am full I do not force myself to eat. Like someone said it does, maybe even out in some ways. I also very seldom buy fat free anything, or light anything. sometimes I need those extra calories to make my goal. Everyone is different and what may work for someone else will not work for others.0

I was having the same problem. I have discovered that my sleep is terrible if I eat later in the evening so "topping up the tank" to get my calories in at the end of the day is out of the question. So here is what I did. I added healthy calories to each meal. For instance I added 1oz of cheese to my sandwich at lunch. 50g of yogurt and 9g of all bran to my breakfast. A second helping of salad at supper. I was on a plateau for a few weeks. I was very hesitant to add any food to my day because I am still leery that I'll fall off the wagon. This method of adding healthy things to each meal has bumped me up to an appropriate calorie level and I am adding much needed nutrients...I think it's time to admit that I've successfully changed my lifestyle...the old me would never have come up with such a sensible solution. The evidence is clear...the week after this sensible change I lost 4.5 pounds. I bet you've got weight that's ready to come off...just make a sensible change that you can live with forever and bingo you'll see a victory on the scale!0

I don't. Honestly most days I don't reach my goal, even when I have a treat to bump my calorie goal.0

It's not bad to have a low day here and there, but you should not be consistently very low. If you average your days out you should be close to goal.
Also, make sure you are eating enough protein as well. I looked at one day of your diary, which may not be represetative of all days, and you were very low on protein.0
