I have just joined and in the progress of trying to lose 20 pounds by my vacation trip on November 28 and and continue to lose additional weight. I am getting the workout part down. I am not doing it as much as I need to but better than what I was. I am doing 2 times a week. I am trying to bump it up but it is hard with the schedule. anyways the main problem I have is my diet. I can not put the chips, fast food greasy food and candy down. I need some healthy GOOD recipes that my husband and I will like. Also anything with onions and peppers in it is out. I do not like those. All else I am willing to try and if it easy and good! Thank you!

turkey burgers on wheat buns(or mini pitas) u can mix in just about ANYTHING and change it up. Standard grilled chicken with maybe a mango chutney on it. Quinoa pilaf is a good side dish...0

Try and gradually replace your candy and chips with healthy choices like fruit or sliced veggies for the crunch. Oh and get the chips and candy out of your house! Avoid those aisles at the store.
And don't forget to be realistic, you aren't going to go your whole life without your favorites, so allow yourself a treat a week. Pick a day and incorporate chips into your meal plan. As long as you account for them and allow for the calories, you'll be fine.
As for working out, break it down into smaller sessions and do it more often. Walk for 5-10 minutes a could times a day. When you get up, do a set or two of crunches. When you go to the bathroom, so some calf raises or squats. All sorts of ways to sneak it in!0 -
I never thought of turkey burgers. My mom makes them all the time but I never had one. Of course i love turkey so I will have to try it.
Yea we have been getting the fruits and veggies so doing better at least eating them. My place of business has a snack area so I am looking at chips, cookies, muffins so it is hard to say no when they are calling but i have done better not eating them as much. I will try the exercise here and there. Every little bit counts.0 -
I didn't give you many examples in my last reply...here are a few:
Add in whole grains and fresh fruits and veggies when possible, try new ones and see what you might like. Keep your fiber intake up, that will help you stay full longer and add in lean protein such as tuna, white meat chicken and turkey. Instead of french fries, get sweet potato fries and bake them...so good! Instead of chips, have air popped pop corn. instead of chocolate bars, have a 70% cocoa chocolate square instead. that is a great substitution! Also Jello mousse temptations are GREAT for a sweetness fix. Instead of a ceasar salad, have a fresh salad with vinegar dressing. instead of burgers have well...sometimes you need a burger, in that case get the leanest you can, skip the cheese and mayo, load up on veggies on top!0 -

Imagine instead of tastey goodies you are staring at piles of calories. 250 for the doughnut, 175 for the chips. Imagine those calories just adding on and on...Also come to work armed with a snack sized bag of almonds (portioned carefully!) and dried cranberries with a sprinkle of chocolate chips in the mix. Tasty and satisfying!0 -
Thanks. I have been looking at the nutrients a lot more. I look at the carbs, calories and fat and when i see how much it has my eyes bulge out at times. I went to the food database and saw what some of the fast food places have and the calories and all that. OMG! Now I know why! I was doing good bring veggies and fruit to work but then stopped but I will start again. I will look into all the other better stuff I could have!0

It take practice, and no one is perfect. So gradually make your changes and you'll be vacation ready by November!0
