Nuts! Avocado! They're fats but healthy ones and the nuts will keep you fuller longer.

I'd probably do something like this:

    Ribeye Steak
Mashed Sweet Potatoes (with skim milk & butter)
    Steamed veggies

Just thinking about it, I might go walk to the store and pick up some steak for tonight.

If it was me, I would try to get in a lot of protein and nutrient-dense foods, and then make the rest up with whatever I felt like eating, aiming for high calorie foods. You could also spread come of them out over the next couple of days.

T-Bone  topped with 2 sunnyside up eggs:love::love: . And two toast with butter. Hmmmm.

Fast food? Long John Silver made the list for the #1 Unhealthiest platter in US. That would certainly make up for it!

Haagen Daas coffee ice cream has 800-900 a pint.

If you can't consume it all, maybe finish it off tomorrow (your calories)...that way you can even out the week.

That's why I don't try to burn that much calories, because I could never eat that much!! And it would be a big waste of time to work out that hard if your just going to waste it on fast food!! There are healthier choices!!

Oh, this is an awesome idea! And such a better treat than McDonalds or whatever. Still eat healthy, just allow yourself to indulge in the bit of butter or dressing or whatever you enjoy (dessert!). Unless you're craving fast food! Nothing wrong with getting it... just letting you know it doesn't have to be that just to get calories in.

I don't always worry about "catching up" in that day. Days when I burn a ton of calories from high-intensity stuff, or long-distance runs, I just eat what I feel like I need (usually something higher in protein or good fats), and then end up catching up the next day, when I'm actually hungry. It seems like that's how my body works, so I don't worry about it.

Making up the calories with unhealthy food is probably not a good plan.

That's a damn shame! Hehe!! If it were me, I'd make a big-*kitten* snack:

2TBSP Peanut or Cashew or Almond butter
    1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 cup coconut milk (from a can)
scoop of protein powder of your choice

    2 bananas

Blend up the nut butter, the walnuts, the coconut milk, and the protein powder, then pour it all on the bananas, eat with a spoon!

This gives ya 1040 cals, in a 30/50/20 ratio of c/f/p... Then maybe later go for some awesome steak! Gotta get the protein in for sure :-) And all that healthy fat really helps too!

I'm with this person, I would definitely seek a YUMMY snack that I haven't been able to have because of the high calorie... like peanut butter (or NUTELLA!) crackers or a brownie...

The steak and potatoes would be a win too, We already decided that Steak and Potatoes will be our next binge. That or a spit roasted whole chicken and potatoes :D

Medium Peanut Butter Fudger Shake from Sonic, 1,200 freaking calories (for real!) J/k, don't eat that... That's the first thing I logged when getting into MFP... I was like holy &%^$, no wonder I am gaining a pound a day!

Is that what your HRM gave you or what MFP gave you? :ohwell:
  • Just eat what you want? Have a normal day....theres no need to eat loads if you don't want it. If you get hungry later have something else to eat. Personally i'd just have some extra fruit and greek yogurt or something similar but thats just me.

I had a difficult time too eating back exercise calories on heavy days... I decided to look at it from a whole weeks perspective, I went and found my tdee that included the days I worked out and now I just eat an even 1500-1600 calories per day :) sometimes Ill eat a couple hundred calories the day of my routine if I'm especially hungry from the workout, makes it much easier to balance out all the extra cals being burned :)
  • I would eat a protein shake for a snack. Then I would have some chicken and splurge with some carbs like bread or something.

But...I guess I don't understand. I never eat more than usual when I burn that kind of calories...I love seeing that I ate negative or zero!

    Good luck!

That's just kinda wrong, and doesn't sound healthy to me at all.

    Co-sign!
Wish I had that caloric leeway today.
    Blasted women's problems
  • ok i went to a mexican hole in the wall
i ordered 2 "super burritos" (didnt even know what was in it but it sounded like what i needed lol)
omg i could barely walk out of the joint
soon as i got in my car i wanted to go sleep
ive polished off some big meals but that had to be in the 2000 cal range.
i think it had chicken, beans, rice, lettuce, tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese, guacamole
those flour tortillas are probably 500 cal apiece
    wow people. just wow.
im on my way! thanks for the tips

Your day sounds like mine! I burned 1356 calories today. I haven't had pizza in so long. My husband went and got pizza hut pizza, bread sticks, and cinnaparts. I enjoyed some of everything!
