why am i gaining weight?

so ive been dieting and exercising at least 5 days a week for the past 2 weeks. i eat roughly 1200-1400 calories a day and burn about 350 calories at the gym. im 19, 161cm and at the start of the year i weighed 48kg. after going away on vacation i came back weighing 54kg. from the last 2 weeks i now weight 55.5kg in the morning. why is this happening?! it is just water weight? but that wouldnt explain why i now weigh more than i ever have? (55.5kg). the most ive ever been is 48kg.

    Do you weigh your food with a food scale?

    no i just use the serving size on the label

    Some of it could be that you're 19 years old and it's completely normal to transition from a teenage-type body to a more adult-type body at that age. :smile:

    What are you doing on the other 2 days of the week? You need to track your food constantly and weigh all your food if possible. Measuring cups and servings sizes are alright but using a food scale is the best way to go.

    Between 19 and 22, my body completely changed shape. Well the lower half did. Hips, thighs, and butt suddenly sprouted. And an additional 5 pounds settled themselves securely on my body. Puberty does not end at age 18. It usually goes unitl 21 or even 22. So...it could just be that.

    On the other 2 days I do strength and resistance training. Usually just 3 one and a half min planks and 50-100 crunches. I also eat a bit less

    If you open up your food diary, maybe we can troubleshoot what the problem is.

    Also, do you weigh yourself daily and at the same time of day? TOM? Eating more sodium or carbs lately?

    i weigh myself in the morning before breakky :) ive made my diary public for you to have a look at. ignore some of the weird names ive got for cardio; its just a certain way for me to remember each specific exercise :)
