New to the FitBit

Posted this in the FitBit users group but didn't get any response yet. Any users out there, if you could help me out, I would appreciate it  :

I've been reading through the stickies and I'm still confused! Please help me!

1.) I have my calorie goal set to lose 0.5lbs/week. Does FitBit work with this number or is there a different setting I need to turn on for the FitBit?

2.) Exercise - do I still need to log my exercise or will my cals burned be taken into account with the FitBit adjustment?

3.) Does MFP take the FitBit adjustments at a certain time or do I need to do this myself?

4.) I saw people writing about start/stop times for exercise. Where is this on MFP?

I think that's it for now, but I'm sure as I get answers, I will have more questions!

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to butt in here. I don't have a Fitbit but, am interested in getting one, or the Withings Pulse. Anyone have any advice?

    1) You really don't need to mess with the diet settings on your Fitbit Dashboard, unless you want to. It can help sometimes for days when Fitbit and MFP aren't syncing for whatever reason (glitch happens from time to time).
I prefer to have the negative adjustments setting turned on (MFP Food diary setting). This way fitbit will subtract calories from my daily goal if I haven't been very active.

Example of what an adjustment will look like:

    2) Depends on the exercise. Walking based exercises and running fitbit can track pretty accurately. For me it is also pretty good with dancing. It will be off for things like riding a bike or swimming. In that case you will want to log your exercise either on MFP or Fitbit (your choice). If you log it on fitbit, it won't show up in your exercise diary and it won't show on your mfp news feed, but it will prevent the occasional glitch where the time information gets sent wrong to fitbit.

    3) It does it automatically. I'm not sure when, but it tends to update throughout the day.

    4) When you have your fitbit account and mfp synced, when you go to log exercise it will ask for the start time and duration.

Mine went through the washer and dryer this morning! I discovered it while folding my clothes. It had a big grin :D and logged over 3500 steps! Thank goodness it wasn't damaged....it sure was happy. LOL!
