Hi! I am at the beach this week for 6 days! I am just feeling SO overwhelmed. I have been eating a pretty good bit and I am so worried that I am going to gain "real weight" and not this temporary stuff. I am feeling very nervous because there is no way for me to even calculate my calories because we are eating out every night.

Please help me and tell me what to do. How will I lose weight or even maintain on vacation?

Control your portions, eat plenty of protein to keep you full and prevent snacking, but also relax and have fun. Any weight you put on from vacation can be taken off, don't trip chocolate chip.

I went to the beach for a few days last month. I weighed the same when I got home that I weighed when I left.

First of all ENJOY THE BEACH AND YOUR VACATION. This eating is your lifestyle, don't obsess so you don't enjoy your well deserved vacation.

I took a long walk on the beach every morning and most nights, I burned tons of calories walking in the sand along the waters edge.

I ate what I wanted, being outdoors all day made me hungry for clean, healthy foods. We found a restaurant that used fresh local ingredients and ate there several times. You may be surprised at what's listed in your MFP database. There were listings for restaurants that were unique to my location.

I enjoyed lots of wine, some desserts, and even an umbrella drink or two.

This. You tend to be more active on vacations (swimming, walking around and looking at things, etc.), so as long as you are eating reasonable portion sizes, you should be fine. I spent two weeks in Italy eating the cuisine, and I still lost six pounds just by watching portion sizes (this was admittedly early in the weight loss process, so it was easier to lose then). You won't gain much in two weeks, if anything, so don't stress. Enjoy vacation.

Don't worry about it. Relax, enjoy your vacation, and just get right back on track when you get home. Have some icecream...its good for the soul. I did on my vacation today...huckleberry!

Yeah it's only 6 days. My advice is try and fill your plate half full with fruits (breakfast) and vegetables (lunch and dinner). On vacation, we tend to eat less frequently, too, which helps with keeping calories down - 3 meals instead of meals plus snacks. At least that was my experience.

I recently did 10 days at an all-inclusive and came back 3 lbs heavier... and then they came back off as soon as I started cutting again.

Don't sweat it! Enjoy your vaca!

Thanks for the advice! In general, is what you gain on vacation easy to lose once you get back on track with your normal routine?
