Indigestion from Foods

Random question, but my PCM(Primary Care Manager) does not have a "medical" answer for me.
I get terrible indigestion from eating a lot of different things, such as ALL poultry, wild fish(catfish, Mahi Mahi, SALMON,) and raw veggies. This is obviously a big problem for weight loss as it makes it hard to eat a lot of high protein meals that include lean meats. I tried the Vegan thing for a few months and can't do it. I have to have my meat
I am also deathly Allergic to Shellfish, sooo I am stuck with eating red meats and pork right now. I can also eat milder fish like flounder, whiting, and cod. Oh I can also eat Lamb, but that stuff's expensive.
Anyone have this issue in the past and found a way to fix the problem? I hate to medicate myself with antacids for the foreseeable future just so I can eat healthy foods. I would rather find the cause and address that and not be on a daily antacid my whole life. The weird thing is sometimes it doesn't cause any problems with the fish. I have had an issue with poultry for years...like curled up in a ball groaning issues. Eating a bucket full of Tums seems to help some, so I suppose it is an acid imbalance of some sort that is triggered by something in the foods? Thanks

How much water are you drinking?
Raw veggies will cause gas especially if you have radically changed your diet.0 -
I seriously had terrible acid reflux before I started losing weight. Most of the time it was anything high in carbs. Pasta would really set me off. That is why I decided to go low carb. Since I started, I haven't even had the smallest amount of heart burn. I mostly eat red meat (daughter of a cattle rancher) and I am sure most people would tell you that is not good for you, but all my blood tests have come back better than they ever have been. Just make sure you are using very lien cuts of meat.
Also, if raw veggies give you heartburn, cook them. Yes you may cook out a little of the nutrients, but it really isn't that much. I think the bottom line is, find out what doesn't make you feel crummy and stick with those foods. I found once I got my stomach in line, I could add a few things back to my diet because I got my system back into balance.
This is just me though...0 -
Make sure you're drinking enough water. Eating without enough fluid in your stomach is like trying to boil pasta without any water in the pan. Also, try pro-biotics.0

Yea it could have been the water intake I suppose. I have been really hard on my body for years..especially as a kid. I would drink a 12 pack of Mt Dew a day...sometimes close to two. I wouldn't be surprised if I damaged my stomach doing that, but I have yet to go see a specialist for it. I do yoyo diet sometimes so it may just need to get used to the healthy, fresh foods for awhile before it regulates itself. Thanks!0

Have you thought of moving toward a vegetarian diet? I'm not talking about a radical-overnight switch. But exploring things that might improve your stomach.
I had major acid reflux and stomach pain until I quit dairy. I didn't realize that I had been walking around with a stomach ache / problems for years until they were gone. I feel great now. Maybe my dairy problem is like your meat problem.
Just a thought. It's always preferable to improve your diet rather than medicating the problem. Your body is telling you to avoid these things. Avoid them!
I hope you feel better soon!0 -
Get to know traditional (read: not takeout) Chinese and Japanese cooking - skip over the poultry and fish recipes and you'll still have a smattering of recipes that dodge all of that.0

A lot of poultry is full of antibiotic residue, that you could be reacting to. Try a brand that is labeled free of antibiotics. NOt sure about the fish unless it's the amount of fat, because wild caught is supposed to be "cleaner" than farmed (but maybe try the farmed varieties for comparison). There is nothing inherently wrong with pork and beef other than the amount of fat - choose the leaner cuts and portion appropriately. Supplement your protein with vegetable protein, eggs and yogurt or cheese (if you tolerate dairy and/or eggs)0

Any suggestions for where I can get some reciped to try>?0

These have their share of chicken/fish things, but the vegetable issue is very much covered.0
