Shoes for Insanity??

I just ordered Insanity and will probably start it next week. Besides the fact that I'm really nervous because I think it will be too hard for me, what shoes do I wear? I have a nice pair of Brooks running shoes that I wear while walking and running. I fear that they might not work right due to more side to side motions of Insanity, jumping, etc.
Thoughts??

I have a pair if New Balance cross trainers that I wear as my casual sneaker, at the recommendation of the DVD I started wearing those for the workout. A few minutes into the first warm-up my feet became very sore, almost cramped. I took off the cross trainers and put on my regular running Mizuno shoes and haven't looked back. Personally the side to side doesn't bother me much and I found that I needed the support of my regular running shoes.0

i'd still recommend cross trainers. Shawn has a different color pair of reebok zig trainners in asylum 2. i don't think they make them anymore.
you can get away with running shoes if thats really more comfortable. in my exerperience you can get cross trainners that with at least as much cushion as running shoes.
I have the revis zoom trainner by nike and i really like it, but the traction sucks on the rubber floor i have. most surfaces it should do great on though.
I used a pair of trail running shoes for over a year doing insanity/asylum and they did great also.0 -
I have a pair of Reebok Zigs I could wear. I just don't want to ruin my $180 running shoes by wearing them during Insanity. I have a pair of Asics Gel that might work too. I'm a woman, I have many different pairs of shoes, so I hope I am able to find something that will work.
Thanks for the responses.0 -
Everyone prefers something different, just try it with what you have. I did it barefoot on carpet. I didn't like how my feet felt in shoes on the carpet. I've also heard people say that shoes made for step aerobics work well, like Pumas or Asics. And try not to be nervous, I know I was at first too, I still weighed 207 lbs and was way out of shape (I still have a long way to go to my goal) and was scared that I wouldn't have it in me to finish but I did and got great results, lost 19 lbs, went down 2 pants sizes and I can run further and last longer at anything I try than I ever have before.0

well using athletic shoes for an athletic endevour hardly seems like a waste... but just about any brand new athletic shoe that you find comfortable is going to work pretty well.
IMO the only move that you've got a serrious risk of rolling an ankle is the 123 hiesman so just be carefull on that one if your using a running shoe.0 -
I wear my Brooks running shoes for Insanity, and it works fine for me. The only issues I have are towards the end of my workout when my area rug gets a little slippery from sweat... At least that means I'm working hard!0
