Too loose or too tight?

Have a work trip coming up this week, need to dress professionally.

Don't have the money or time to get new clothes for it (the thrift stores around here have terrible hours, and not much professional stuff anyway). I'd inquired about having them taken in - they wanted at least weeks to do it. Oh well.

I have too-loose suit pieces, about 2 sizes too big, some of which with belt-holes to keep the pants up, though there's not much that can be done about jackets. I also have some too-tight ones I saved from years ago. What would you pack- the too loose ones that look a little clown-ish, or the tight ones, the jackets I might not be able to button?

If you wear the jackets that do not fasten you could maybe drape a scarf around your neck and let it hang down to hide the gap. Do not try to fasten the jacket. ?????

If the smaller jacket fits better, it doesn't have to be buttoned.

In my experience 2 sizes too big is too big to wear. As you say - clownlike. I just got rid of a suit that was two sizes too big. Pants, too.

As long as it is not ridiculously tight all over I'd go with a little too small & leave the jacket open.
