When youre getting winded...what do you say?

So today I had a bit of an NSV and pushed through without a ton of breaks during Insanity which I haven't been able to do since I started. ( I also am an asthmatic so this is HUGE for me)

So when I get winded and wanna quit when I know I got more hit in me than im giving I just repeat the fact that I wanna fit AND look good in a bikini next summer...so im like "bikini bikini bikini" sometimes I even scream it.

What do yall tell yourselves when you wanna give up during a workout but know to push through?

I sing to my music. If I can sing the words I know I'm recovering my heart rate.

I have a wall of quotes on the wall where I workout.

"Girls don't sweat, they glisten. WRONG! WE F****** SWEAT!"
"You can be SORE tomorrow or you can be SORRY tomorrow. You choose"
    "Procrastination is opportunity's assassin"
    "Clear your mind of CAN'T."
"If you're tired of starting over, stop quitting"

I have separate ones for the fridge and pantry, but these are the ones I love to look at for my workouts. I switch them up with other ones every 2 months or so to keep the inspiration fresh.

It helps, but there are a lot of times where I have to stop due to the room spinning. :embarassed:

Finding Nemo : Just keep swimming (obvious)
    Just keep running
    Just keep riding

Or this one time when we were lost hiking and I really really wanted to quit. But couldn't because we had to get back to the car.

    Just keep walking.

    It actually helped immensely.

I say, usually out loud, "you have the body you earn".

So if I quit, I have the body I earned by quitting. If I push through, I have the body I earned by pushing through.

I love the idea of saying, "I'm proud of you".... I say that to my kids when they keep trying.

    Great ideas here!

ETA: great job on pushing through today OP! I'm proud of you!

I just remember my second wind is coming. I control my breathing by counting, keep my pace and pretty soon it happens, I'm home free after that. It's transcendent. Music helps too, I get lost in it and forget my muscles are burning.

I look at the people in the video doing the workout. If they're not quitting, then neither am I.

    Congrats!

I burned a mental image of a 1 year during and after face shot into my head. I put into a lot of hard in that year and thinking about the extreme differences motivates me to keep pushing.

Also I think about my inspiring onederland song and the crazy dance I did because of my excitement. Both keep me going during tough workouts or when I'm craving something bad that I haven't planned for!

I ask myself a lot of "do you" questions......Do you want to go back to being the fat girl? Do you want to keep hearing from the doctor that your feet would hurt less if you lost weight? Do you want to see that lock on the nursing assistant's face every time she weighs you? Do you want to look good at your kids' graduations? And so on.....sometimes I ask myself things to remind me how angry I used to be, and I use that anger to keep going.

oh, some of these are such great ideas! I intend to try some out, because right now I just count to 100, and measure breaths that way. :ohwell:

I just started a little less than two weeks ago and some of these are great suggestions. I don't have a set routine down, yet. However, I did take a "before" picture and I really, really, really want to be able to take an "after" picture!

I say 'of course you can stop -- if that's the absolute LAST rep/step you can do. Are you sure it's your last? Sure you can't do ONE more?'

Funny thing, it's never the last.

I visually punish myself by working out in front of a mirror in shorts and a sports bra. Every time I look over and see my gut or a back roll jiggling I just get disgusted and work harder. :noway: However I also keep going knowing that eventually its all going to disappear or tighten up.
