Interesting article.
As someone who currently has a groin injury and CAN'T squat, I don't really agree with that much in this article. (FWIW can't BSS either
)
And Bret Contreras's podcast re this article is here.

I'm OUT in pretty much anything that comes out of Rippetoe's mouth. Sure, he's knowledgeable about some things, but his only tool is a hammer so he treats everything like a nail. It's all so tired. I ignore him, so it wouldn't be so bad except everyone quotes him over and over so much that he's unavoidable.0

Mastodons like Doug Hepburn, Jim Williams, Doug Young, Roger Estep, Dorian Yates, Karwoski, Magnusson, and Hamman, have used basic barbell exercises with heavy weights to build strength and muscle, the likes of which have never been produced using exercise machines.
Pretty sure Dorian Yates preferred hack squats and leg press to build his legs over the barbell back squat.0 -

Always controversial and I guess that is why he is still selling books.
I'm only half way through the contreras podcast and he doesn't "really" agree with the majority of it.
Mrsallypants: that is not what this article is about.0 -
Misinformation is misinformation.0

Well this seems like pretty standard Rippetoe fare: Barbells are everything, all else is blatant fraud etc etc...I know that I'm an animal that displays bilateral symmetry. I understand that one side should be the mirror of the other, and that human perceptions of beauty are intimately associated with symmetry. For example, I am very handsome.
Well that came out of left field....0
