Okay so I am trying my hardest to lose weight and have only lost 5 lbs so far....But what my problem is, is that my husband is trying to bulk up so he eats a lot and doesn't gain any weight! When it comes to breakfast and dinner, I don't know what to make..I usually have to make something good with a lot of servings for him, but then i find myself eating too much. Anyone have any advice on what to do? what do you do when the husband is trying to gain weight and the wife is trying to lose?

You can eat the same foods, just eat less, and he has to eat more.

So what you do is make a bunch of food, take your calories out, and give him the rest.

Assumimg you are cooking a healthy meal for him at breakfast and dinner there is no reason you cannot eat the same (or similar)

Keeping in mind that you just require a smaller portion. Its hard when you are staring at someone with a giant plate of food but think of how your stomach would feel if you had ALL his food in it.

Adjust your portions to what will make you feel satisfied, make adjustments based on your daily intake goals.

Eg. We had homemade burgers for dinner last night. My boyfriend ate 2 burgers buns and all with side of asperagus. My portion - 1.5 burger, side of asperagus - i opted out of the bun and made fun "burger wraps" with lettuce shells, all my burger toppings and wrapped them up to eat.

    Same meal - slight modification.

Breatfast - balance carbs, protien, fats.

Today I had oatmeal (1/4 c dry steel cut) 3/4c egg while omlette, 1c blueberries (in my oatmeal) husband can eat the same probably just more...

If you need a measurement guide...
protien - size & thickness of your palm (his portion.. size of his MAN palm.. lmao)
    carbs/strachy veg/friut - your fist
non starchy veggies - 2 handfulls
    fats - thumb size.

    Hope that helps...
Just use the same meals and measure based on yourself.

It really just comes down to willpower. You have to control your portion size and don't allow yourself to get seconds. It stinks, but it's the only way. I eat alot of salads or cereals with almond milk for dinner. And btw, I feel your pain. My boyfriend is naturally skinny too. He can eat McDonalds 3 times a day and not gain an ounce. It can be frustrating, but just be happy he looks good I guess.
  • My husband is like that also, he isn't trying to gain weight but he eats what he wants and doesn't worry about it. When he makes dinners, he gets mad that I don't eat also so I was eating with him. Now, I start modifying what he made, like less portions or I substitute bread for veggies or something where his feelings don't get hurt when I don't eat. On nights when we don't cook a full meal, I do not eat what he eats, I make my own meal. There are times when I make him one thing and I eat another thing. Its all about having self control to know when to stop and when to modify. It takes practice (at least it did for me) and you will get it too.

Looks like you're eating really low cals. That can make you irritable, lethargic, and depressed. IMO up your target calories and lift, and you'll feel better about the situation.

Pretty much. Weigh your portion, log it, eat it, no second servings.

I have decided that for some guys its just the way their metabolism works.
As long as my boyfriend "moves" - anything,,, golf, walking, gym whatever... he doesnt gain anything... then when he actually tires the weight comes off the muscle goes up and then he can eat more!!

Its insanely irritating! Totally get it!
