So, I went grocery shopping today and wanted to get some peanut butter. I chose an all natural one, only peanuts in the ingredients. I'm wondering what everyone else's take on the best and healthiest option of peanut butter might be???

Best but far from the healthiest: Skippy. Only because I buy it from Costco. My son and I go through it super fast.
  • Bell Plantation's PB2....all the taste, none of the guilt.

Trader Joe's sells Better N' Peanut Butter. It's AMAAAAAZING! I think it tastes better and creamier than any other peanut butter I've tried. It's 100 calories for 2 tablespoons, 85% less fat and 50% or something less sodium than regular peanut butter. It is the only peanut butter I will ever buy again. It's probably sold elsewhere, but I found mine in Trader Joe's.
  • Trader Joe's Better N' Butter is a great choice, but not everyone is lucky enough to have one nearby. Naturally More is the best peanut butter out there (lowest calories, highest protein, lowest fat, and flaxseed), and it is available at Walmart. Personally, I also like the way it tastes better than Better N' Butter, too.

I buy 'Maranatha - Peanut Butter -Creamy No Stir Organic 16oz' in the natural food section of Hannafords. I also buy their almond butter. I love that the peanut butter is no stir even though it needs to be refrigerated.

Teddy's All Natural SUPER CHUNKY with Flax Seed oil (Omegas!) is my fav. It isn't too much more than the generic brand and way tastier!

OH! You are going to want to try whipped Peter Pan! It is so light and fluffy that you actually use much less then normal peanut butter. It is the only kind I buy now.

Kroger natural crunchy peanut butter or Naturally More Peanut butter w/ flaxseed oil. Yum yum!
  • I think you did the right thing, but picking one that only has peanuts for ingredients! The other peanut butters Skippy, Peter Pan, etc. all have a bunch of other junk in them. While they taste good, they are not "just" peanut butter. It took me a while to get used to eating all natural peanut butter, but I LOVE it now and can't eat the other stuff. Not a criticism of those who do it, I just like the more natural approach.

I too purchase my peanut butter from Trader Joe's. I buy the all natural, smooth, unblanched peanut butter - yummy! I've noticed it is generally pretty easy to stir as well, which is nice! If you don't have a Trader Joe's near you, you can try Laura Schudder's All Natural Peanut Butter - a bit harder to get stirred up initially, but still good!

I eat peanut butter every single day - I LOVE IT!

    Enjoy!

I could barely eat this stuff...the taste was definitely not for me. So I went cold turkey on my peanut butter habit :-/

I'm with you. I tried the Better N/ Peanut Butter and it was definitely not better. I measure out my tablespoon of peanut butter (actually weigh it, 16g because a heaping tablespoon is closer to 2 tablespoons!!). I couldn't live w/out my PB!

I think if your looking for peanut butter one that has only peanuts in the ingredients is the way to go. I use wild organics peanut butter or occasionally i will buy smuckers organic peanut butter which has a little salt added which is way better than salt, sugar and hydrogenated oil yuck! and i think after you eat peanut butter this way for a while you will find that its pretty sweet on its own so why do they add sugar to other brands???

I get the low sodium natural jiff, was getting simply jiff. But I missed my crunchy/ I am slowly weaning myself off the sugar and salt in comercial Pbutter and when I am done will be making my own with just peanuts.
  • this stuff is amazing. half the calories and 85% less fat. and i really think it tastes better than regular peanut butter.
i get mine at whole foods or trader joe's.

  • I haven't tried the Trader Joe's Better Than Butter, I don't think. I have tried their peanut butter that is all peanuts. I think the all natural, only peanuts is the way I am going to go. Has anybody tried Soy Nut Butter? I tried the I.M. Healthy Soy Nut Butter but I'm trying to figure out if that or the all natural, only peanut, peanut butter is best. Thanks for all the suggestions!

If you have a Whole Foods, try their honey roasted natural peanut butter...you make it there from the nuts in their machine (its fun too!) LOL.

Seriously, this is THE BEST peanut butter I have ever tasted, and I've tasted them all. I'm a massive peanut butter snob.

Also, if you have a food processor you can make your own nut butters. Really easy and yummy. That way you know exactly what you are putting in to it.
