ok...so when i was on a website a few months back it said i would need to eat 1350 cals a day with moderate 5x a week exercise. now....MFP gives me 1200, but must always eat the same ammount i loose? why is that? so if i workout and loose 1000 calories i have to intake the same amount plus my 1200!!! i just dont get it. does my body NEED 1200 to SURVIVE? so burning the cals i do i still need to replace them?? i know bodybugg uses the same method, but dont know the MADNESS behind this METHOD!!!! help!!
thanks!
                thanks!

YES YES YES, your body need ATLEAST 1200 calories to survive. That is what your body would require if you laid in bed all day. Now everyone is different but 1200 is the MINIMUM you should eat. So if you workout you need to eat those calories. you can lose weight just by dieting alone but working out allows you to eat more and makes you stronger and healthier. EAT THOSE CALORIES!!!!!!0

Your body NEEDS at least 1200 calories other wise it will enter starvation mode. As far as the exercise calories i believe if you were to eat ALL your exercise calories you'd be eating at maintenance level or close to it [as in in little to no weight loss] but I think you still need to compensate a bit for dipping into the 1200 calories. I don't eat all my exercise calories but i may have an extra snack or something to fight off the hunger i may feel from burning the extra calories.0

Personally I'm trying to remain under the days cals by atleast 150 (some days more) depending on how hungry I am, and see how that pays off for me at the end of the week. You have to remember that the cals burned are not accurately recorded on MPL because what we do is not on here so until we have the HRM its trial and error. So this week Im going to stay a bit under and re-evaluate on Monday if it don't loose any weight. As of now...feeling pretty thin 0 0

I had to really hard time with this also and the way that worked for me is, I think of it as a math puzzle.
Let's say I need 1600 calories a day to live my sedentary life.
Then I tell MFP that I want to loss 1lbs/week so MFP gives me a calorie deficit of say 400 calories.
Now I need to eat 1200 calories and I will loss 1lbs/week.
Then I exercise 300 calories worth of exercise.
Now my body needs 300 calories to use as fuel for the exercise and the 1200 calories I need to just live my life.
I still have a deficit of 400 calories, so I will still lose 1lbs/week.
Maintenance will look more like my original 1600 calories plus any exercise I do each day.
Okay my head hurts, but I hope I've made some sense to others, I make sense to me. just barely, but I made sense to me.0
