Hello,

I'm new to the site...hoping it will help me out at least a little bit. I've gained about 15 or more pounds over the past 5 months. I've had to put clothes away that don't fit me anymore, and refuse to buy bigger clothes - so I look sloppy and gross and don't even want to go out.
I'm having a really hard time losing weight, eating right, and exercising. If you have any tips, ideas, etc. please please please fill me in! And I'll do the same eventually I hope :)
It looks like I'm just consuming too many calories during the day...but with the thoughts that I'm eating healthy. No clue where to go from here.

Thanks
Kath

    Hey Kath!

Great start by being transparent and honest with yourself! You came to the right place! We're all right there with ya.

What Im doing is trying to loose 2 pounds a week, keeping to my calorie goal, exercising comfortably, not to over do it, and taking it one day at a time. "Long term approach"!

It's great to have a place like this where you can be honest and get encouraged by all the stories and testimonies. :)

    You can do it!!!

Thanks so much for such quick lovely responses! Rodder...I like that "long term approach" doesn't seem so scary! But unforunately I'm supposed to be going on a trip to Mexico over Thanksgiving and need something a bit more hard core - but I'll start with your advice!
Tammy, could you give me a litle more info about the challenge? I'm not about rules, weigh ins, etc. I'm a newbie :)
    Thanks guys

Hey Kath I understand where your comming from. Sometimes we just need to stop and reavaluate what we're doing. What I did was talked to my doctor and he got me set up with a wonderful diatician that taylored a diet to me and my needs that I could work with. Also through my husbands insurance at his work I got hooked up with a life coach that contacts me every couple of weeks. Both of these plus my friends here hold me accountable and keep me going. I would incourage you if at all possible to speak with a good diatician and then take it from there. Hang in there I know you will make it.

2 words: fresh vegetables. They work MIRACLES. Cooked veggies are good stuff, too. Try to get 5 servings of veggies in a day, and as long as they're not deep-fried or covered in butter or cheese, you will see a difference.

Good luck and feel free to add me as a friend!

Agree with all and also remember your water. It totally helps you! Good Luck!
  • You can absolutely do 15 lbs by thanksgiving! That's 1.5 lbs/week between now and then, ABSOLUTELY doable.

You've been given some good advice.... but you tell us, what works for you?
  • Hey, I'm 27 too, well hitting that number this weekend really. Anyways, I'm doing to 30 Day shred videos and they really kick butt! I've lost 3 pounds in a week so far. So, you could try it, they have it at WalMart for $10. It only takes 20 mins a day.
