Love that you started this thread! When I started Insanity around 5 weeks ago I guess I could qualify as 'skinny fat'--didn't work out, untoned, flat butt, etc. Insanity has done wonders for my lower body and I have definitely increased muscle mass in that area. I have gained 5-7 pounds from the 'before' picture but think I look much better! Just goes to show you that the scale doesn't tell you everything.

you ladies are all AMAZING!
I'm still a WIP but...
and more recently
First picture is after I lost about 18 lbs.. so I think I was around 118 or 119 (Jan 2012?)
The later pics are at 123 after about a year and 3 months (roughly) of heavy lifting. I'm currently doing LiveFit and am super excited to see what results I get from that! I want to lean out even more. Hopefully get in the 16-17% BF range (currently 20%).0 -
In to congratulate you ladies! You're amazing... I'll have to show this to my sister to prove that doing some lifting won't be useless!

OMG seriously in 4 months!! I was hoping to show any improvements by the end of the year. This gives me hope. You look great!! How many days a week are you lifting?0 -
This definately has reaffirmed my desire to start lifting again...wow0

Great thread ladies. I'm another one, and I'll add photos soon. I just started my transition in May, and have a ways to go. I've been writing about my journey with progress pictures over on the Livestrong site, but it's great to be in the company of others working to lose fat, build muscle, and get stronger!0

Well done everyone!! Loving the photos!!0

Well to be honest, I've only started doing an actual strength training program at the gym this last month. Currently I do 3 x a week strength, 2 x cardio, 1 x boxing and maybe a couple circuit DVDs if I feel like it. About three months ago I started doing JM's Ripped in 30 DVD. Worked wonders for me. It has a lot of strength moves, plus I was doing it with 5kg dumbbells which was a challenge. And learnt a lot about nutrition.
I'm on machine weights at the moment but hope to move onto free weights soon :-)
Hope you have lots of success!0 -

You all are my (s)heroes. I am the poster girl for skinny fat -- 5'5", 120 lbs. with a gaunt looking face, visible hip bones, and a large lower belly roll. I've been lifting heavy for over a year and I'm getting some serious strength and muscles but the fat isn't budging (sigh).0

In for the motivation to focus on strength .0

I sometimes only eat one meal a day (or a very small meal and then a very big meal in the evening - like today as a matter of fact). I don't think it matters WHATSOVER, I think being active and lifting weights, along with knowing how many calories you're consuming every day is the recipe for success. Calories in vs calories out.
Great to know Im not the only one! Ive been told by multiple people on here that eating once a day is unhealthy yada yada... but i've tried adding meals... and I have literally been eating one meal a day for YEARS.... so my body, as am I, am use to it. I can get my serving of veggies, protein, fruits, grains, dairy, everything in one meal.0 -
