The challenge continues! (to challenge us). If you're mad about snacking late at night, in particular on chips, popcorn and M&Ms, join us in the struggle to defeat this habit and change it to: "No more late night snacking!" Take either dinner or a cut-off time to be the last time you eat for the day, after which tea and water only drinker. Then stick to it! and most importantly, stick to us, so that you get over slip-offs. Be certain that you can do it!

We usually do month-by-month, but are now changing to week-to-week to get more support. (But feel free to keep a tally of your month achievements too  )

Join at ANY time, with each of individually tallying at the end of each week and even the month. Don't give up. One night of non-success does not scrap you for the week or the month. Make a goal, and if you overcoming one extra night a week or month of success, then you are a winner!

Can't wait to see you on the here. We'd love to have your support.

So here we are on Wednesday morning, even the start of the new month of September. So my tally for this week for Monday and Tuesday night is:

    2 me/snacks 0

My final for August was 25 me/6 snacks (It has taken me several months to be this successful, just doing it day by day)

My goal for September is to again be successful for at least 75% of the time. So no more than 7 nights, but it would be neat to beat my last month.

Can't wait to see my old pals here, and make some new ones...
  • I'm fine with small night time snacks as long as they're of something smart...
    Good ones for myself are-
-Simple whey protein shake with nothing extra thrown in other than maybe 1 tbsp olive oil.
    - 1-2 tbsp of NATURAL peanut butter, or NATURAL almond butter.
    - 2 eggwhites with 2 tbsp of no sugar added salsa.
    - Broccoli or cauliflower florets.

Absolutely. Starting now is great. Maybe stay with us for the week and keep a tally at the bottom for the month? Great to have you.

No worries Dew and Rosemary. It wouldn't be a "challenge" if there weren't re-sets. Now you are just revving up.

Tomorrow is going to be real difficult though....going to one of my grandsons' birthday party :drinker: :drinker:

I have been doing this for the past week. This is a great idea. I am eating a small sugar free yogurt this evening because I did not eat dinner. I have not been eating after dinner except for a cup of Good Earth spice herbal tea. I night I did have a small tangerine.

Yeah - I need to get back to the tea thing. That was real helpful when i did it.

Did not eat past 10 the past two evenings, but on Sat I woke up in the middle of the night, could not sleep and had a growling stomach... That was a bad combo, so I had some food to calm me down.
    So it's Me: 3 vs. Snacks: 2

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. Doing great yourselves! :flowerforyou:

    Hello everyone!
I need some serious help with this one. I tried joining this group before, but I kept failing :ohwell: See, I work overnights. So my late night is actually between 7-830am. I work 10p-6a and have been doing this shift for a few yrs nowAnyway, if you look at my diary, I try to eat approx 500-600 calories at work so that Im not hungry when I get home. Sometimes I am hungry though, no matter what I eat at work. But honestly, most of the time I am not, I just eat to relax from the stress of the night. I developed a bad habit of waking up, eating andf going right back to bed, and I seem to do this when I am overly stressed ( which has pretty much been the last yr) then I wake up feeling like crap., dont eat, and go to the gym, and try to stay within my calories for the day ( I start my day an 12am). I usually stay within calories, but its really hard after workouts because I used so many calories before bed!! Calories I didnt even use...what a waste!
ANyways I need ideas on how to unwind at the end of the day without food, ANY suggestions will help. This has become a GIGANTIC hurdle for me to overcome in my life, and the longer this behavior goes on, the longer it's gonna take to break!! I did read about melatonin....this is a chemical that your body produces at night to tell you its time to sleep. Well, it doesnt produce it at 7am, so I think I will start taking a supplement, to make me stay asleep. I also try to drink decaf tea, and read to make myself sleepy, but I still end up waking up and eating...its like Im not even thinking when I do it. So how are you overcoming this? Thanks!!!! feel free to friend me!

Hi Lee, You sound a lot like me with the CRAzy work schedule. I work 7pm-7:30am. I tried setting a cut off time of 4am but that didn't work very well because if I did the slightest thing after work I';d be real hungry and blow it. Now I try to stop eating by about 7am. That's 2 hrs before bed. And a bit of protein is helpful since it has trytophan which helps you sleep. Was thinking of trying to get some melatonin for the days that I have to sleep in the daytime. It's halfway working to sleep in a room that has room darkening shades. And I just recently found out that if you stay cool your body will produce the melatonin you need about 2 hrs after you go to sleep. My days are midnight to midnight. But it's a toss up as to which day I put the food on. Some times I eat it before midnight but put it on the next day. The comfort eating is a big problem too since it's so stressful at work. I'm fine at home but find it hard not to snack at work. I try to eat the good stuff I bring before I eat other food.

yea, same with me. Its liek getting in my car and going home makes me hungry! I wish I could beat this. Im not sure if I should cut myself off at 6am, that would mean not eating when I get home. OR should I eat, but eat something small? I think if I do it cold turkey and just not eat when I get home it might work better because I have to change the behavior.

Im gonna start taking malatonin today on my way home from work...ill let u know how it works
  • Cool Lee, let me know what you think. Now if I could just fix the eating at work thing. Like today, it's 2am and I've eaten 2/3 of my calories for the day. Really could have gotten by with half the amount of food. I think I'll just drink coffee and water the rest of the night then just go home and sleep, and not eat until 6pm.

    Hang in there Dew. :flowerforyou:
