Intermittent Fasting??

So I have been trying intermittent fasting... yesterday I woke up at 2 am so hungry but ignored my cravings as my food window is 11am - 6pm. Then again tonight I woke up hungry at 3am! However, this time I broke, but not with good food. Cookies I ate, and now I am 300 calories down for the day. Should I go back to sleep now and then continue my intermittent fasting hours 11am - 6pm of do I have to start the new cycle from now?. This is one of the hardest food challenges I have tried!!

  • IF is pretty much BS. There isn't enough evidence to say that it is beneficial and you're clearly struggling with it. Not sure I would continue.

Anyway, to answer your question, you would just factor that 300 calories into your daily goal; you wouldn't start a new cycle. Of course, if you keep doing that, then you're no longer fasting. ;)

The only real advantage to IF is that you get to eat bigger meals during your feeding window. Meal timing is largely irrelevant, number of meals per day is irrelevant, meal size is irrelevant, all things being equal.

IF isn't b.s. the stuff this and that blog /vlog is talking about is b.s. It's just a tool. You can build something great with it or bang yourself over the head with it. The only thing to know about IF is that one can eat when you want to. You're not going to get this big super weight loss from doing it. Plus remember you have to re train your hormones to become comfortable. It's not an overnight thing. I'm a fan of emptying the digestive tract but other than that its just a way to divide up total calories for the day. Makes no major difference.

OP, do your own research. Please don't listen to these people. Haters are gonna hate.

Its easy to call BS and provide no evidence of it.

Google Krista Varady ADF if you want to learn something. Fasting cuts risks of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's.

If you're waking up hungry, then you're not eating enough on food days.

This blog post sums up the information, straight from the scientists doing the research:

    http://feedfastfeast.com/2012/08/25/grabbing-the-bull****-by-the-horns/

    Abstract of clinical trial: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/86/1/7.abstract
  • Perhaps you should have read the abstract yourself.

"The limited human evidence suggests higher HDL-cholesterol concentrations and lower triacylglycerol concentrations but no effect on blood pressure. In terms of cancer risk, there is no human evidence to date, yet animal studies found decreases in lymphoma incidence, longer survival after tumor inoculation, and lower rates of proliferation of several cell types."

It ends by saying, "More research is required to establish definitively the consequences of ADF."

There is no evidence that IF has any benefits. There is some evidence to suggest it improves cholesterol, but requires further research to establish any definitive conclusions. The benefits you reference were observed in animal studies, not human studies. Please do not post misrepresentations of science and call it evidence.

First of all your fasting window is too big.... if you stop eating at 6pm you should be eating by 8am..... should not be more than 14 hrs for a woman or it messes with your hormones.

Secondly, how many calories are you eating when you are in your eating window ? how many calories a day do you eat ?

you don't look like you need to lose any weight from your profile pic honestly.... just my opinion.
