Teachers and students

I'm a high school teacher and I go back for pre-planning in only a couple of weeks! BOO! The students come back on Aug. 7th.

Why can't summer just be a little longer?

How many other teachers feel my pain? And how many of you crazies can't wait for school to start back?

Waaah! Most of us work all summer. Quit crying!

Just teasing. I couldn't be a teacher; I don't like children. :flowerforyou: My teacher friends feel the same as you. Enjoy your last few weeks of freedom before you're forced to spend your days with demons again. :flowerforyou:
  • Haha! I actually love my job. I just feel like the summer has FLOWN by. And here in Georgia it has rained every. single. day.

I always joke with my parents when they talk about how they would love the summers off if they'd trade places with me for the other 44 weeks out of the year: locked in a room with 30 teenagers who don't want to be there for 9 hours a day.

No way I could teach little kids though. Definitely don't have enough patience. Kudos to anyone who deals with little kids on a daily basis.

    What a crappy summer!

Tell your parents to move to France. They pretty much shut down over the summer while everyone is on vacation, and you usually start your career with 6 weeks paid vacation + lots of bank holidays and 32 hours (if I remember right) for a full-time work week with retirement at 62 (or 60 if you started work at 18). HEAVEN!
  • Forget my parents! I'M moving to France! haha

I taught English over there for 7 months after I finished college, and we had a 2 week vacation every couple months. It was pretty awesome.

What happened to the summer breaks we used to have back when I was a kid? We let out just before Memorial weekend at end of May and didn't go back until after Labor Day weekend in first of Sept?
  • Amen, amen, amen. (I will admit to going a little stir-crazy some summers, though, when I don't have some big project to work on.)

I'm a uni student, finished after my exams in May....don't start lectures again until the....23rd September. Loving life. Now if I could find a part-time job to fund more cocktails on the beach (live within walking distance of 3) then that would be lovely.
