Quit smoking 3 and a half months ago!
So I quit smoking 3 and a half months ago its been 109 days to be exact! Before I quit I had made allot of life changes such as exercising more, eating healthy. I made these changes first as I did not want to quit smoking and start eating more junk. I want to be healthy and I want to lose weight. So for three months before I quit smoking I was doing great I had lost about 25lbs. Now when I first quit smoking I thought I might gain a little weight but I would be able to lose it again.
That is why I am so mad right now I have been eating good and exercising at least five days a week and I do cardio and weight training. Since I quit smoking I have gained 20lbs back. I don't know why or how. Any tips or Ideas of things I could do to help lose the weight again. :ohwell:

Hello, I quit smoking 102 days ago today and I have also put weight on even though I have tried to be so careful. I think it is just something that happens and I am hoping with time that it all comes together and the weight falls off.

Good job to both of you for quitting smoking. I quit two months ago yesterday.
I fortunately didn't experience any weight gain. I set up an aggressive fat loss program and have been sticking to it to the letter.0 -

Congratulations! I quit 192 days ago! I also gained about 10 pounds despite watching and exercising more. I downloaded the Cessation Nation smart phone app and the forums there talk about your metabolism slowing when you quit.
I am currently doing the July Squat Challenge and C25K along with things like walking the dog on the trail, etc.0 -
Here is an example of my weeks:
Monday: 2.5 miles run/walk in 30 min
Tuesday: full body dumbbell routine/light cardio
Wednesday: same as Monday
Thursday: same as Tuesday
Friday: rest/cheat day
Saturday: outdoor activities with kids and light cardio
Sunday: lawn work (2 yards/2 hours)0 -
that's frustrating but congrats on over a hundred days nicotine free
i notice that you arent tracking sugar in your diary, i know when i have quit smoking in the past it was hard not to substitute sugar in place of a cigarette, i would be staying within calorie goals but eating too much sugar and that messed me up, when i was good about it, like when i quit for 3 months two years ago, i dropped 8-10 pounds at the same time. at that time i did cardio six days a week mixing running and biking mainly, along with some yoga and pilates.0 -
Congrats! I'll be at the two year mark in September. I'm not sure about the weight gaining back. Never had that issue. Live by calories in vs calories out and I still lost weight after smoking. When I quit I knew I would be able to run harder and train more intense so I did. Anyways, congrats and good luck!0

Congrats on your quit!! I will be 2 years smoke free next month. I gained about 25 pounds after I quit, I was the heavest I even been, I finally started exercising and went low carb and lost the weight I had gained. Then for this last year I had just basically yoyo'd and maintained within a 5-10 pound range. I got serious a couple months ago, I still avoid bread and "white" stuff but now I count calories I am losing weight again now and looking better then I have in YEARS. I workout 6 days a week doing Tracy Anderson Metamorphisis, and various other cardio workout, hiphop abs, JMichaels, spin bike etc... Be patient is key and protect your quit above all else,nothing not even an extra 20 is worth smoking. Congrats again and best of luck0
