mixing foods

So many people do not like mixing foods. Steak can't touch their rice. Cold foods like salad can't touch hot foods like chicken.

I mix everything together. I dip my chicken into my mash and then into my salad...and put it on my bread.

What do you do, mix or segregate?

I don't usually intentionally mix, but I certainly don't get bent out of shape about whatever happens on the plate. It's going to mix in my gut anyway.
  • I mix, its all going to the same place in the end.

I mix. Sometimes to an embarassing degree if you ask my husband or daughters.

I'm a mixer and it actually saves me calories. Instead of putting butter and salt and pepper on my potatoes and veggies, I mix them together to make them more palatable. Pick up a little taste of potato or rice on my fork then stab the green beans or broccoli and get a flavorful mix in every bite. :)

I've never understood the whole seperation thing. As someone else said above, it's all going to the same place anyway!

I can't mix savoury food on my plate! Urghhh the thought makes me cringe... It doesn't matter that it's going to be the same when it goes into my stomach (something dad always told me), I just like being able to savor each individual taste and try out different combinations together (unmixed) without everything tasting like same-tasting mush.

However, I like to add stuff to my instant noodles like eggs, leafy vegetables and tuna. And I also like to mix peanut butter with chocolate/cocoa, cream and honey, and flour/hazelnut flour with butter and sugar or brown sugar, and I love experimenting with different "cookie" ingredients.

Ha! In my cultures (Chinese/FIlipino) it's actually quite common to pile food on! We mix our meet with rice and whatever else is on the plate! The only thing may be salad that we eat separately :P
