The BEST NSV a girl could ask for!

I have what I think is the best NSV ever.... My boyfriend is a larger guy (see picture). And he was a chef at a local rest until a few weeks ago where it got really bad and he left his job there. Hes a great cook but wasn't appreciated enough. Too much stress with little reward... But hes also a smoker and doesn't work out....
Some how I talked him into doing his first 5k EVER on the 4th of July (see picture) & he was hesitant at first but agreed to. We started at the line and he goes ok ready? And i said ready he grabbed my hand and we started to jog...ok my bf does NOT run! I've never seen him run! But we started to jog accross the start line with the rest of the runners around & the tons of spectators. We started walking shortly after lol. but he def made me keep up the pace b/c of his long strides with him being such a tall guy. We jogged a few times here and there and at the finish line we jogged to the end, he took off and finished before me and it was the best feeling to see him accomplish something so great. I was so proud of him.
I got him out another time a few days ago and he still did a great job, I signed us up for another 5k in a few weeks. (i'm used to doing a bunch of them but this one is more difficult but still 5k) And last night when we were talknig about signing up for this one he goes you know...i want to thank you for getting me to run. I said oh..well whys that? He goes because it's what I needed. Thank you..
I think this is better than any weight amount I could possibly lose.
happy friday everyone!! Go out there & get em!

OP I had a similar one about 2 weeks ago with my boyfriend as well!
He really hasn't been taking care of himself over the past year - stress galore and trying to get into nursing school etc, not eating much of anything, medication makes him nauseous, and a housefire that destroyed and then one day he comes to me and says "so MFP says I need to eat xxxx amount of calories to get back to a healthy weight".
I just about died. He actually signed up and got an account to gain weight!! He really hasn't been using it, but he took the first step - knowing he had an issue and saw how MFP worked for me to lose weight so now we have fun guessing calorie amounts and logging on the days I do spend time with him.
So glad you've made an impression on someone close to you Sometimes one little push is all it takes!0 -
What a great story!!! Thanks for sharing and Happy Friday! Welcome to your hubby as well! :flowerforyou:0
