PLATEAU WEIGHT

So far since April 17th I have lost 24lbs and still making gains but I would like to hear other challenges with the "plateau" issue and how people overcame it or some tricks of the trade.

Thanks,
Robert

I am currently riding out a 2+ month plateau as well. I feel like nothing is working!!! HELP! I walk 5-10km OR bike 20-25km a day and track ALL of my eating. My diary is open...

When you are on a plateau, you need to change your exercise because your body becomes very efficient and burns fewer calories when you do the same thing all the time. Add strength training 2-3 times a week. Shake up what you are eating. Eat fewer carbs and more protein.

I stalled out for a month or so. I broke it by changing my diet to an intermittent fasting program (leangains), and upping my cardio intensity.

    Congrats on the weight loss!
    I was plateaued from Nov 2013-July 2013.
The scal;es FINALLY moved this morning :glasses:
Althought my weight it not my main focus right now, the plateau was ANNOYING, I didn't give up though!
I'm not %100 sure what broke the plateau for me, but I have changed a few things lately

-I've been moving more throughout the day
-Doing Ripped in 30 (wasn't doing much cardio before)
    -Walking 30+min mon-fri
    -Yoga!
-I try to NET my calorie goal, instead of just eating my goal and leaving the calories I earned through exercise replenished.
  • what are you eating? I can't see your food diary.

I did see Stacy's though. If yours is anything like hers, you might be eating the wrong things.

Instead of the premade, processed foods - start cooking from scratch. Get a good recipe book that you like that promotes healthy eating and start learning how to make your own foods.

Prepackaged processed foods have had the majority of the nutrients processed right out of them - no matter what it says on the label.

Also start reading the back of the label of everything you buy that has a label, ignore what the front says or claims - did you know that Kellogs cereal with strawberries has more sugar than Captain Crunch?

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating right. Also get a good night's sleep - if you are a night owl you are stressing your body with the late nights and it makes it harder to lose weight.

Plenty of cardio. Are you incorporating resistance/strength training?

You may be tracking your food, but are you measuring them accurately? Do you weigh everything on a food scale? If not, you could benefit from investing in one.

Are you tracking your measurements with measuring tape?

If you ask for advice on diet/exercise, PLEASE open your diary so we can peek at what you're eating.

    - How tall are you? Weight? Goal weight? Type of activity done? Length of activity? How many days a week? How many calories do you consume?
