Hi, I'm Candace. I will be officially starting tomorrow on my weight loss journey. I've tried this site before but without joining groups or having friends so hopefully being more involved will help. Feel free to add me if you need some encouragement or motivation...I know I will!

Hi Candace,
I am 5'3 and 200+ lbs. Just joined today.0 -
Hi Candice, I started Jan. 24, 2013 and its the best decision I've made in a long time. Welcome!!0
-
I was...good luck!
My tips- Log your food everyday, every when you blow it. Think of your calories as a weekly goal, not a daily goal. If you blow it one day, just cut back or exercise more the next. Weigh and measure your food- not knowing what you actually eat can bite you in the butt. Eat at least 80% your exercise calories, eating too little wont make you more successful in the long run. Shoot for 1 pound loss per week, but know some weeks you might not lose anything. If you plateau for longer than 6 weeks, your probably eating to much for your activity level. 80% of weight loss is diet, so if you can't get yourself motivated to exercise yet, just focus on the food. If you want to exercise, but don't know where to start, just move more. 10,000 steps a day will make such a difference, even if you do them slowly.0 -
Good for u!!!!! I also wasn't very involved with this app the first time around so hopefully it goes better for the both of us the second time around!!!!0

Welcome! I was 202 when I started mid February. I'm down 38 pounds so far. . You can do it, I agree with the log every day. We went to a Chinese buffet last night- not my choice- took a friend out for her birthday. I was over, but I mentally had to keep track of what I was eating to I could log it- I this it helped keep me under control. Feel free to friend me!0

Hi Candace...I just started on here last week. I started my weight loss journey in March and decided to try this to see if it would help motivate me and keep me going. I was 200+ when I started and have lost just over 30 pounds since March.
Good luck!!0 -
Hi there, welcome to MFP! Started at 195 @ 5'3" (close enough!) Just take it one step at a time, and have a healthy caloric deficit. Remember slow and steady wins the race!0

Hi Candace. I joined this site 2 years ago for the first time and lost over 60 lbs! Then life happened and I lost track of my diet and exercise and I stopped using this site. I gained back 40 pounds. I started using this site again in June and I am determined to get the weight off again and keep it off this time! I just hit the 199 mark (again grrrrr) and my goal weight is 150. Please feel free to add me and we can walk this journey together!0

Great Tips, ECW! Never thought of the 80% idea.I was...good luck!

Hi I'm 5'3' 240lbs
I have been this way for a few years now. I never really tried or even wanted to lose weight because my weight is in "all the right places" is what I've heard. But last year I decided to take things seriously because I was 271 when I moved here (last year). I'm back down under 250 but I'm stuck here. So I'm trying fitness pal.
Oh yeah my name is CeCe0 -
Hi Candace! I'm 5'3" and 236 right now. I'm a week into starting over after a baby and surgery so I'm back to square one and I could sure use some encouragement and would love to cheer you on as well.
I originally joined 2 years ago but about 5 months into it found myself pregnant, I tried to keep doing workouts but due to complications I had to stop, so basically I felt like the pounds crept on and there was nothing I could do. Ended up having my first c-section then 8 months later surgery. Anyway, I would LOVE some motivation and support as it's getting a but daunting with no one cheering me on as I go. lol0 -
Hi ,
I'm starting my journey also I tried fitness pal before and wasn't consistent , I'm hoping getting involved in a support group will help me reach my first goal which is 60pounds off by December..
I hope we all reach our health goals0 -
Right there with you, Candace. I just joined on Monday, and I'm trying to make a lot of "friends" for mutual support. Feel free to add me, and good luck!0
-
I just joined today, and am determined to do something about my overall health. I just tipped 200 lbs and hate it. I gain weight very evenly, so it can creep up without me even realizing it. I am a size 14, ultimately I want to get back down to 150, which is about a size 8 for me. I like the way it tracks sugar on here, for I have a -14 and didn't really eat much sugar...so I thought. lol. I just need something simple and actionable....
I don't have any groups/friends listed, so if anyone wants to encourage one another, add me.0 -
Thank you so much everyone! This is already the push that I need. You guys are wonderful!0
-
I started out well over 200 lbs. 3 years ago. Now, I am well under. You can add me if you'd like.0
-
Hi Candace
I am 5'5" but well over 200 lbs so I am here too. I just again started logging food and exercise, was doing really well with a lower carb lifestyle last year, hubby got sick and has been undergoing treatment since last November, and I have put all of the weight I lost back on.
Feel free to add me - I look foward to getting to know you as we make our journeys together!

Hi Candace! I'm right there with you, though a little taller with a bit more weight. I've been on here for (I think) 5 weeks now and I'm 12 lbs down (didn't log my weight and loss at first). Working well so far. It will work for you as well!0
-
Hi Candace! I'm 5'4 and 233 lbs. Have been an on again, off again MFP user for longer than I care to admit, but when I'm "on", it's great! I'd also love to make friends with you ladies in the same boat!0
