Skinny but high body fat %...Need advice.

Hey guys. First time posting on this forum. I'm a male, 5'10, 192lbs. I'm looking for a little bit of advice. I've done a lot of research and I've found a few things that have helped me out, but I still need a bit of help. A little history first (sorry to bore you all). In high school I was about 300lbs. I realized one day I was really unhappy so I created a diet that helped me switch up what I ate throughout the day between carbs, proteins and fats, 4-5 mini meals a day with lots of water. Doing this helped me lose roughly 160lbs. At my lightest I was about 136lbs. I was disgustingly thin, and I knew it. You could see my spine because I lost a lot of muscle mass, and didn't have much to begin with. So I decided I needed to eat to at least put some weight back on. I got up to about 170ish, looked better, but even at my smallest I had a gut and terrible love handles and back fat. So, recently I decided I would try and add muscle mass to counter balance this. I started going to the gym, eating a surplus to add muscle, and I have gotten stronger. The issue is, because of my high body fat, which I calculate to be around 22-25%, I'm adding a lot of fat back around my middle, sides and back. It's really not pleasant. Now, here in lies the issue. I'm currently weighing 192lbs, BUT...with clothes on you would never be able to tell that. My friends, family and even the doctor look at my like I'm crazy when i say this. I still look like I weigh 140-150, and I still wear roughly a size 30-32 pant size. My issue is that I really want to get rid of the fat before "bulking" (not actually trying to bulk bulk, but adding muscle mass), because I know how much more difficult it will be to get rid of the fat if I increase my body fat % any higher since it's already on the verge of being unhealthy. But! If i lose more weight, I seriously will look anorexic. I'm really not sure of the best course of action to go on with this. Do I just deal with the anorexic look, get my body fat count down to 13-15% (If I can) and then add muscle mass so it's easier and healthier, or do i just deal with the fat and try and add muscle, inevitably losing a bit of that when I try and cut out the fat. Anyone else have a similar issue, know someone who has, or have any advice for me? Losing weight the first time was easy, this time, its a bit scarier since I don't want to be unhealthy one way or the other haha. Thanks in advance guys.

its gonna be the look really skinny route i'm afraid. I went down from around 200, I did have muscle but still too much fat, in the end I went down to about 141, at that point I was getting lean and healthy, but undersized for me, wasn't quite 10% boddy fat and looked skinny with a shirt on, would have been silly to try get leaner. But after that thats when I started my bulk, as you will gain fat when you bulk. Then after that I bulked for a few months, got back up to 178, but with much more muscle. Now I'm around 168 give or take a couple pounds each way, gonna aim for between 154 and 161, because I think at 154 i would be leaner than I was at 140 the first time, can already see it when i train and dip below 166.0

Yeah, I think I settled on going the skinny route unfortunately. Thanks for the reply. Looking in the mirror and at pictures you can see the fat just hanging off my body, and like you said if I try and bulk with all that i'll just gain more, which in the long run will make losing it harder, and longer, which means more muscle mass lost as well. *sigh*, couldn't just be gifted with an awesome body...oh well. Good luck to you as well getting to where you want to be!0
