Low mood, tiredness and eating

Hi all,

I would like to get out of the habit of overeating. I am looking for advice and like minded individuals. I don't think this applies to all who are trying to lose weight, although I think all of us who are trying to loose a few pounds generally like food!

My problem is if it is the house - and it's a carb, I eat it. I admit it, I am really greedy. If I'm tired I reach for food. The problem is I am a stay at home mum... with a two year old. I feel frumpy and don't go out much these days.

Is any one else in the same position? I don't want to be a lazy mum who is tired all the time, but that's me! Has anyone any advice?

I have tried eating healthily, 3 meals a day, but there gets to a point every day - around 11 am until 16.30 that I just feel worn out, a bit teary and craving the carbs, in any form!

If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it, thank you.

I find that eating every few hours is helpful. That way I avoid getting hungry and can make food choices based on what I know I should be eating rather than based on an empty stomach that just wants to be filled. Eating carbohydrates isn't unhealthy in and of itself, so you shouldn't beat yourself up over that.

Thank you for the reply. I have had a better day today, it's just trying to keep busy during the "red alert" times. Another kind poster suggested snacking on veggies too, and that's helped! Thank you, I probably do go quite a few hours without eating as sometimes have breakfast at six am and am snacking by 11!
