4th meal = most important meal of the day?????

Curious as to where all this "4th meal is the most important meal of the day garbage is coming from", any thoughts? My personal opinion is that it is just a marketing campaign propagated by taco bell etc etc....

It seems to be all over the threads lately, and every time I read it, it is like a nail being driven into my eye...well maybe not that bad, but you get what I am saying...

But I would be curious to see the responses all this..

oh, and if you are going to try and say that "4th meal stokes metabolism", or "it is the most important meal of the day" at least try and back that *kitten* up with some kind of study and don't post something from "yahoo answers", or some other garbage site......

Nah bro, every meal is the most important meal of the day. You gotta eat a full meal every hour in order to feed your starving muscle children.

I know I don't feel well unless I've had my fourth meal. I mean, it just makes sense. You've only had 3 other meals that day. You have to fuel your metabolism or else your body will get confused and store your fifth meal as fat.

    ...or something.

What if I work second shift and my 4th meal is around noon? Is it still the most important then?

3 is an odd number. Odd numbers are just wrong.

4th meal???? Dang and for all of my 52 years I have been missing out

I only eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks on my diary are for stuff like milk that I use for tea and coffee and if I should indulge in an extra orange or something.

I hadn't heard about "4th meal" until Taco Bell started the campaign. However, I do know that some people like to "graze" and it 4-5 smaller meals throughout the day just because it keeps your body fueled consistently. I can't do that because I feel like I'm always full and eating when I don't need to. I usually just stick to 2-3meals with a snack if needed. Sometimes if I exercise a lot or eat less calorie meals I guess there is enough left over for a "4th meal" but it's not intentional.

    It's just marketing.

The key remains maintaining and controlling the balance between calories in and calories out.

I tend to spread my eating out over the day, but that's for practicality's sake more than anything else. It'd be hard to pack my calories into three meals, especially because I eat breakfast and lunch at work.
  • I do three meals and a snack RELIGIOUSLY. But thats just MY formula. There will never be any PROOF to back up ANY food plan other than groups of people with results claiming their way is the best way. The truth is there are MANY ways. I happen to like mine, I would even consider doing two snacks at some point but for the amount of cals I have to work with, 4 is just right :)

You can! You just have to do HIIT all the way to Mordor to work it off. It is 1779 miles from Hobbiton to Mount Doom...and GO!!!!
