I am desperate to start using the dumbbells that are getting dusty at the bottom of my wardrobe!!!

But have no idea where to start and would love some female friends who have started training with dumbbells who could give me some support and advice...maybe even a sneaky peak at their training plans!!

Give me a wee add!! x

Check out bodybuilding.com for tutorials. You can look up moves for specific areas you want to target and they give you videos and pictures. But its most important to start with a very low weight and look at all the tutorials and directions because it is very easy to get injured if you don't learn good form first. That site also has great programs although I haven't tried anything specific from there yet. And if you are worried about looking like a body builder, don't be. It takes years of hard work for anyone to look like that.

    Good luck!

Ha ha. It would be my pleasure to help you. Weight lifting is weight lifting- it is not gender specific.

I've been weight lifting for the better part of 8 weeks now. Just graduated to an HLM routine (Heavy lifts, Light and Medium 3xweek). I get my routines from muscleandstrength.com. Really cool info there. I'm no expert but I can try to help anyway I can on your journey towards become stronger :)

I am just about 5 weeks into learning to lift heavy. I am reading both starting strength and NROLFW. I also hired a personal trainer whose sole focus is to show me how to lift with free weights and I told her that I want as many compound lifts using the barbells as possible. You can add me if you want.
