  • My drinks are now vodka (Skinny Girl - 40 cal./shot) and diet cran-prom (10 cal/8oz) and plenty of ice. So a total of 50 cal. for a very large drink. When I am at home and drinking I find that I will drink about 1/2 and then fill the glass with more ice and just some diet cran-pom. Very tasty and very few calories.

well, a proper shot, 1.5 ounces, of vodka, no flavored stuff, is about 105ish calories, get that with soda water or diet mixer, and just have a few. or bubbles, a dry champagne is about 70 calories an ounce.

Just have 1 or 2 drinks and do some cardio earlier in the day and/or eat healthy the rest of the day so that you have room for a couple drinks.

Get a good workout in earlier in the day to give you some more calories, and use either soda water or diet soda as mixers. Do your best to avoid drunk snacking.

I just make room for the drinks I want to drink my eating a smaller lunch or dinner. Or going a bit harder in the gym the day of...

So then it's a treat when I do get to enjoy a drink or two...
  • It depends on what you're in to, but a good scotch or something on the rocks (no mixers or chasers) can work wonders. You usually drink it slower, and still get a nice buzz without packing on too much extra calorie wise.

Just echoing everyone else above. My favorite drink is: bourbon, bitters and club soda. A low calorie Old Fashioned. :-)

Not to be the overseer in the message board, but I thought 21 was the legal drinking age. With that said, maybe skip the cute, fruity drinks and ask for some flavored seltzer in your drink. I agree with the post of getting a proper shot of unflavored vodka. Be mindful of your intake and drink plenty of water. Have fun.

Go out, enjoy yourself and get back on track when you're done nursing your hangover. Don't let counting calories and fitting your macros limit you. Go out, have fun, and log whatever you remember. Then go back to your normal routine. You won't be fitting your macros every second of every day, live a little and enjoy yourself :)

If you do want to worry about the healthy options stick to vodka (or any clear alcohol) and mix it with low calorie mixers....i personally do ketel and club with a lime.

Its one day, enjoy your life. Work out harder that day or next day if you feel guilty.

Agreed, and don't forget to add in water between drinks so you don't spend the entire next day "recouping"! :) Although, at 19, you may not need to that, it unfortunately takes longer to recover with every birthday that passes...

I do vodka waters a lot. A top shelf vodka, water and then lemon and lime squeezed in there. It's actually really good and pretty low calorie.

Try to eat high protein during the day, track in advance and stick to it, eg if you normally have 5 drinks during the night then plan your diary a day in advance for 5-7 drinks. If you go over, don't worry about it. Just have a good time and understand that weight loss should be a secondary goal to spending time with family and friends (unless your Dr has told you that you need to lose weight!)

Fit it in a huge glass. I'm a vodka/soda with lime drinker.

I find it fits best in my mouth

But if I'm out it's all about the vodka diet coke. You're a Brit so if you hit up Tesco they have a tonne of amazing low cal fizzy waters that make an excellent mixer if you're not a coke fan. Gin is fine also. Spirits in general are lower calorie.

And in the end, one night drinking is no big deal if you go over calories.

My friends and I go out maybe 2-3 times a week. We drink A LOT and it usually it includes food, too! lol

The only way is to up your exercise. We're runners (we've done marathons, half-marathons, etc.) I've done 3 this year and I run kinda fast...1:45 half or so. We've also done the Warrior Dash, TRX classes, you name it. We're big into fitness.

We have a race coming up and it's run a mile, drink a beer, run a mile, drink a beer lol.

    Enjoy responsibly, of course :)

ETA: My drink of choice is a bombay sapphire gin + tonic w/lime. Yum!

  • Usually I use my alcohol as part of my cheat meal at the weekends because I have no idea how much I'll end up drinking or eating :/

Just factor in the calories like you would anything else. How do you fit in a piece of chocolate or cake?

Vodka/soda and a good burn that day! Also, some cardio to sweat it out the next morning will take care of any hangover, although I don't think those existed at 19. :drinker:
