Why is it so hard????

So I've lost about 40lbs (roughly) since 2011 when I was at my heaviest. But it's taken me forever and I'm still not where I want to be. I've still got to lose another 40lbs. I just look in the mirror and hate what looks back at me. I try to think about how I felt when I was my heaviest and why I don't remember feeling this way and I know its because I was in denial about my weight. I'd get on a scale and see the number and make an excuse or just flat out pretend it was something else. And now I'm like the opposite of denial. I'm so hard on myself. Sometimes I just drop off my diet and exercise plan because my thoughts get so unhealthy..
This is my progress thus far

  • Hey girl, don't be so hard on yourself. I know sometimes it's hard and we feel like giving up but we must keep pushing ourselves. You need to keep a positive mindset and believe that you will lose the next 40lbs. You are half way through so don't give up. :) I have a motivational group on facebook. If you would like me to add you send me a friend request. https://www.facebook.com/KLCMH

Hey, I know it's tough. I have been trying to loose weight. I have been trying for a long time. Muscle weighs more than fat - that's one reason. Eventually there is a way that you loose - there's a conversion there. We do hit plateaus. You will do it. Keep it up. I'm going through a tough time myself, but I know you can do it.

There is a HUGE difference in your before and after pic. You should be posting in success stories, not in 'this is too hard help me god' thread.

I think most of us with weight problem must eventually come to terms with the fact that weight management, dieting (or call it healthy eating/calorie counting) and exercising are going to be a life-long process if we want to keep the weight off. And if it takes you 4 years to lose 80 lb - oh well, why does it matter since you'll likely have to 'be good' for the rest of your life, even after you get to your goal?

I'm hoping that the reason that you are losing slower than others is that you have not given up on having a social life and continue to allow yourself to enjoy life (and food!) regularly.. Seriously, I lost 40 lb in about 9 months in my 20s, I had no friends or social life during that time, my boyfriend was a jerk, but I was afraid to dump him because I could not find another date without having to skip the gym in favor of eating something on a date that I was not supposed to eat. Looking back - it was so not worth it. I wasted a year of my life doing nothing but gym and chicken breast with broccoli. And I gained it all back in about 3 years. So not worth it! Going slower this time, while still enjoying life in more moderation!!

You are making very good progress. Don't give up!

I was losing like 10lbs and then kinda going into a relaxed phase to make sure I could keep the weight off and not gain. Which is always successful but getting back on the hardcore wagon is always so hard..especially after I went to night shift and I didn't know how to handle my meals anymore (I did gain a little back until I figured out how to manage it then I lost the gained weight). I just want to lose weight fast. Right now I'm depressed (like I'm considering getting on antidepressants depressed) and my friend just dropped 61lbs in 4 months and I'm super jealous cuz she was bigger than me :( So I just want to be skinny too.
