Curious as to what you listen to when you workout.

I gotta have something crazy to get me pumped and drown out everything else in the gym. The Devil Wears Prada does it for me (Band not the movie haha). Just curious as to what everyone else listens to to get pumped

    Pandora's workout station. lol

That worked for me but sometimes when I am on a bike out in the woods on a side trail the reception is horrid and it cuts out. I use Spotify and put all types of random things in one list and let it shuffle.

I have a gym playlist on my iPod - yes I know iPods are almost considered old school but I refuse to bring my phone into the gym with me. I listen to ALL kinds of music from punk to 80s to electronic to oldies. I put my iPod on shuffle and go. Here are the last few bands that I listened to -

    David Bowie
    Beastie Boys
    Ministry
    Reigning Sound
    Detroit Cobras
    Earth, Wind and Fire
    The Roots
    Supersnazz
    Fischerspooner
    Arctic Monkeys
    Descendents

    and so on...

Depending on my mood I will either put my iPod on shuffle (I have a mixture of rock, poprock, and dance music [mostly trance]), or I really like to listen to a variety of EDM podcasts such as Above & Beyond's Group Therapy or Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance.

My boyfriend listens to a talk podcast about economics (EconTalk) o_O I don't know how he does it.

I have a mix of hard rock, pop and hip-hop.

The latest song that gives me the extra bump I need to keep going is "My Body" by Volbeat.

    Chorus is:
My body tells me no, but I won’t quit
'Cause I want more, 'cause I want more
My body tells me no, but I won’t quit
'Cause I want more, 'cause I want more

A good mix of stuff, but with the emphasis on rock and electro. The thing that gets me moving more than anything else is the Rollins band - apart from being rockin' music, I know what Henry Rollins thinks about weightlifting and disciplining your body. Sometimes I have to imagine he's standing there judging my performance, but it gets me moving no matter how tired I am!

I listen to the ambient noises of the gym. Not all that exciting. I love music to death, but for some reason I don't feel like jamming it while at the gym.

Breaking Benjamin, Tool, NIN were my go-to heavier bands. I've been on this dirty reggae kick lately...The Expendables have a few songs that go from reggae to heavy, good for intervals.

An audio book - been working my way through the Robert Heinlein I've haven't already read (and a few I have), also had some shakespeare to try and instill some culture; but not really for me.
Or music on 'shuffle'. Anything from Simon and Garfunkle to Slayer via Chemical Brothers.

Warriors Call gets me pretty fired up too.

I just discovered these guys recently. Very interesting style of music. It like they took Elvis, Metalica and Five Finger Death Punch, put them is a blender and hit puree!

This is an AWESOME list, thank you!

I typically do classes at the gym so I listen to whatever music the instructor plays, most of it is really good.
  • :) I like to listen to either something like Korn but I also really love rave music like DJ Black Ops when I run because it's fast and it helps keep a fast speed.

Bike rides and outdoor walking I listen to Zac Brown channel on Pandora.

Treadmill, elliptical and lifting in at the fitness center I watch Criminal Minds on the TV. It makes the time go by my faster for me then listening to music. It's a small fitness center (3 cardio machines, some dumbbells, bench and exercise ball, pull-up bar) at our apartment complex. Rarely is anyone in the room with me.

I am too lazy to make myself a good workout playlist. I used to listen to Peaches "I Feel Cream" album on my runs but lately I listen to audiobooks or podcasts in the gym. Right now it's "Cloud Atlas" but I'm almost finished with it.
