Working in Food Service

I worked at Starbucks about a year ago, quit for a higher paying job, and lost 10lbs 3 weeks after quiting there.
Well trying to go to Ireland this April so I need extra funds so I'm back at Starbucks.
Just wondering if anyone else works in food services and how do you avoid the calories?
I've been drinking unsweetened ice tea and water while working and usually try to get the oatmeal for lunch as something to fill me up.

Your drinks are great if the lunch is worrying you bring your own other than that just keep yourself accountable and you'll do fine!:drinker:0

I worked at McDonald's years ago and didn't pack on the pounds.
I simply didn't eat the food. When I worked a full shift, with lunch break, I packed a healthy lunch from home. It'll save you the money, too!0 -
I work in a bakery and cafe. It's hard avoiding everything there, especially when I start work at 6.30am and don't finish until well after lunch, but I find taking in a 2ltr bottle of water to sip and some healthy snacks to get me through the day works (not to mention a godly dose of will power!)0

I work as a lunch lady in a local school. I know what you mean about temptation. I try to keep myself busy so I don't have time to eat also I drink a lot of water!!! I find I walk a lot more while at work then I do during the summer. Just keep asking yourself, "Do I really NEED to eat right now". Might help. Good luck.0

Ha, same problem. I worked at Chick-Fil-A and lost ten pounds as soon as I quit. SO MUCH DELICIOUS CHICKEN.0

This can definitely be tough when you're faced with constant and easy temptation, but if you think about, we're surrounded by temptations all the time. I brought my lunch and drank only water or plain tea and coffee. You can do it!!0

I work with Thai food, and the chefs are always trying to feed me, now they call me rabbit cause I eat so much veg and fruit. Just avoid it like you're not even allowed to eat it!0

I worked at McDonlds during college and we got one free meal per shift. I loved the 1/4 pounder with cheese, small fries and chocolate shake! I was young and skinny then lol.
During my heavier years (after children) I worked at a great bakery. We were given 1 fresh bread a day and one fresh cake a week. Also free tea biscuit and coffee in the morning (worked the 5-1 shift).
A few years later I was cook at a retirement community (breakfast and lunch shift). More free food.
It was tough but most of my weight gain came from me eating too much at home.
Its nice being thin and healthy now and yet I still enjoy eating.0 -
Yeah we are allowed 4 free drinks a day and 1 food item. The oatmeal is only about 200 including toppings so I usually stick with that, but there are some people I work with who eat things like the Lemon Loaf which have 490 calories. It's crazy.
Another problem is I work at this Starbucks which is in Harrisburg PA on the Weekends only. So we are usually very slow since the state workers aren't in. So you start snacking out of boredom. I've been doing heavy duty cleaning to avoid that0
