Here's a delicious recipe for a great post-workout smoothie. I thought it was absolutely delicious! I tweaked the recipe - pasted the original below with notes on what I did, but I'm sure the original is great as well.

Banana-Oat Smoothie

Serves 1

* 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (uncooked)
* 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt (I left this out)
* 1 banana, cut into thirds
* 1/2 cup fat-free milk (I doubled this to 1 cup, and used 1%)
* 2 teaspoons honey
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (I just shook in a good bit - probably 1/2 to 1 tsp)
*1 Tbsp unsweetened baking cocoa (Not in original receipe - I added this)
*1 scoop protein powder (Not in original receipe - I added this)

Directions

1. In a blender, combine ingredients; puree until smooth. Serve immediately.

The way I made it, it came out to be 434 calories: 74g carbs, 6g fat, 32g protein, 11g fiber and 145mg sodium. Without my changes it would probably be closer to 350 calories.

    Sweet! I'll have to try that (but w/o the protein powder lol). Thanks for the recipe!
  • I used to make a similar version of this until my smoothie maker broke...and before I started eating healthily.

    Oats, banana, squeeze of honey, ice, milk, cinnamon - but now I feel like buying a another smoothie maker and using your version :D

    Thanks!

    Definitely - I'm actually planning to do this next time (I'm experimenting to see if cutting out dairy helps some problems I've been having.)
