Starbuck's Question

For any baristas, former baristas, or anyone who might know the answer to this.

Yesterday I got a drink at Starbuck's. When I looked it up for the calories, it was confusing, so I went to the Starbuck's website.

I started browsing drinks on the website and found something interesting. It seems as though the Venti Iced Lattes have FEWER calories than the Grande size. I sent Starbuck's a question, and they replied that this is true. I know that Iced Venti has an extra shot (which could account for 1oz less milk), and in the case of syrup, has extra syrup....but WHY is it so fewer calories than Grande (which is smaller)?! Is it just lots of extra ice, or what?

I just want to make sure this really is correct before getting the Venti regularly, when I could be choosing Grande, if it is actually, in fact lower.

Thanks!

I was a Starbucks barista 8 years ago, so I've forgotten a lot, but I can tell you the ingredients are the same in hot and iced versions of lattes etc. One of the lines on the iced drink cups indicates how high to fill the ice... and it's at least halfway up. If you are seeing that an iced drink has fewer calories, then it's because of the ice-to-drink ratio. Can't attest to specific drink size comparisons. If you're concerned, remember it's Starbucks. You can always ask for extra ice [anything].

The nutrition info on the website is messed up. When you select grande, it shows a serving as 24 oz and shows 16 oz for a venti. It's the line right above the calories. It doesn't match up with what you choose from the drop down menu. My boyfriend is a shift supervisor there, and says a venti definitely has more milk. I only remembered to ask him about it today. Sorry!
