staying motivated, gained this week

Hi all,
I am struggling! I am a yo-yo dieter, and I really want to stick to my goals this time and maintain a goal weight! I was doing really well and have been slipping these past 2 weeks! How can I stay motivated? Should I take a few days off, or at least become more relaxed (more calories, still within control)? Do you have any advice?
I gained 1.5lbs last weigh in and haven't been working out as hard. I am faltering but I have to stick with this!!!!! YetI am starting to go a little bit crazy. . . .

If I feel a stall, I take a break. I've been on a pretty hardcore diet for about six weeks, and I completely fell off a couple weeks ago. I just needed a reboot, couple days off, change my workout routine, and then remembering why I started the diet in the first place. A little self-reflection can go a long way!0

Let me start of by saying I'm a yoyo weightloser/weight gainer also, so I mean no disrespect when I say that with being a yoyoer, you know the drill... We go through these spells/ups and downs. By knowing this you can now work on pushing through it. Reread your profile to remind yourself why your here, add to it to reinforce the same thing, look at your ticker and see how far you've already come, look at other people's tickers and realize what you have left is minimal compared to what they are out to achieve, go for a leisurely walk without the pressure of "results" and notice how your body thanks you for it, remember our dreaded hormones and how a lot of our weightloss journey is mental. Stay strong and come out the other side of this natural slump stronger. You got this! :flowerforyou:0

Sarah, it's a hard journey for sure. I think we think we need to always lose, always exercise and we at times demand too much of ourselves. I think once you set the mode of it is Ok to not eat correctly all the time or not exercise every day, it releases some of the pressures. There are times we just need to step back, we need to take breaks, and that is Ok, even if it is a day, a week or if you need longer. When your ready just jump back in and start anew. And even though you think your faltering, your really not. You are aware just being normal.0

Find something you like to do. I've recently found that walking the path of my local park is highly enjoyable for me.
Try new sports (tennis, basketball, whatever). If you like to walk/jog try finding a (new) trail to go to. Sometimes we just need a change of pace/scenery to get back into the groove.0 -
I went through that period where I would gain weight and then fall off the wagon because "it doesn't make any difference anyways". Now I think about the other reasons why I want to lose weight (and those are the most important reasons): my health, my son, having more energy, being around longer, getting in shape for another baby, etc. And those reasons don't necessarily get reflected by the scale. If it were me, I would allow myself a cheat meal or day and then get right back on track. I would keep logging (even when it's really bad), keep exercising and personally, I would leave the scale alone for a while. I would keep doing what I knew I needed to do, avoiding the scale for a bit. Don't live and die by the scale.0

My advice would be to do the opposite of what you feel like doing, especially if following your feelings has led you to yo-yoing in the past.
I gained a pound last week. It sucks but you know what? I still look a heck of a lot better than I did a month ago, and the last thing I want is to gain it ALL back.
So I don't really understand the concept of a break. It seems like (and correct me if I'm wrong) you took a break already, which caused the weight gain. Unless you're just completely overwhelmed and not functioning, you could spend the next week getting that 1.5 pounds off and only be behind a week! I know seeing that weight come off would re-motivate me more than the scale not moving at all...or worse, going up.0
