Does anyone else get headaches from drinking diet sodas?

I really like caffeine free diet coke, but it seems like every single time I drink one now I get a terrible headache...:grumble:

    Yes!!!

Before my family cut out all artificial sweetners my daughter and I both suffered from horrible headaches. At the same general time my husband was going through some very serious problems that we thought at the time were from his diabetes. However we did alot of reading on it and took it out of our house completely and our symptoms went away.

It can take quite awhile to get it totally out of your system and it may be difficult because it makes your body crave it like a drug. Once it is though you will feel a difference and if you ever use it again you will notice immediately.

Check which artificial sweetener is in it, because some people have problems with certain ones. My mom gets horrible migraines from nutrisweet, but not from splenda. So check what's there and try to avoid that one. :) Hope you feel better!

There was a treah about this a long time ago. The person did a lot of research on artifical sweetners because her husband suffered from migrains. They ended up cutting all artifical sweetners out of their diet and not only was her husband better, but there was a lot of other bennifits they found as well. Sorry, I can't remember them all. But my personal oppinion is to stay away from them. There are much better things to put into our bodys.

step away from the diet drinks......artificial sweetners are not good for you. Your body does not know how to process artificial sweetners. natural is always best. As for all you splenda lovers...they are now linking prolonged use of splenda to joint problems.

I used to get them from real sugar; But there are a lot of people that found they are as equally alergic to the artifical sweetner.
My man has Bad and I mean make you erp BAD headaches from Caffine.
But if you are drinking the diet no caffine then I hate to tell you this....
But it sounds like you need to cut out the sodas all together.
At least for a couple of days. See if they do not go away. Then after a couple of days try drinking one, and see if the headaches come back. If they do then you know that you have to stop drinking sodas... Which we should anyway.
If not then it might be something else.
Headaches are commonly cause because of a lack of hydration. Soda as a norm tends to be dehydrating. this might be why you are haveing the problem.
Drink water and see if that helps..
Also let us know what the outcome is.
    Soda free from Feb 08!

AS soon as I can afford it, I am going to GNC to find Stevia. It is a natural sweetener found in a plant. GNC retails it for about $11.99 for a 2oz dropper bottle.

    www.stevia.net

    to find out more.

Two drops is like two teaspoons of sugar. I'm sure there are ways to use it in cooking and baking.

I went three months with no soda last winter. When I finally drank a soda again, it tasted bizarre and burned my throat. No idea why I picked them back up. I drink one diet a day on average now.

There is nothing worse then the headaches once you stopped drinking any kind of soda, and if you have eaten a lot of chocolate in the past, then stop cold turkey...same thing happens.

I have found that water, water, water, and excedrin work for me.

I am a little late in replying to this but I rarely drink any kind of soda anymore but when I do, I do tend to get more headaches. Hmmmm, interesting. Especially if I usually just focus on water, etc.

Anyway, hope it works out well Ty! I tend to get migraines and it really does stink!!
