LIVER ROLL, FATTY LIVER DISEASE

Help me, please?!
Since I was about 11 years old I've had a roll of fat under my breasts.. It pretty much looks like another pair actually! It is sort of 'rib-cage-shaped' in that the middle is narrower.

Anyway, I researched the roll of fat and it seems that it may be a sign of fatty liver disease?
And when I read more about fatty liver disease, I found more and more symptoms that I seem to have!
Now, I know that self diagnosis isn't good.. blah blah blah..
But the reason I am self diagnosing is because I am too embarassed to go to my doctor about it. The roll of fat under my boobs, but above my belly is HORRENDOUS. I cry if I look at it, and won't let even my partner see or touch it.
It's visible through clothes- so I've resorted to wearing firm shapewear daily!

(A bit about me:
I have been over weight all my life (I'm 20), and only last year managed to get to a nearly healthy weight. I began 2012 at 17st8lbs, and in 8 months or so managed to get down to 11st10lbs using the Cambridge Weight Plan.
HOWEVER, I find it extremely hard (almost impossible) to lose weight through healthy eating and excersise alone. Even maintaining proves to be difficult!)

I'm very much expecting the "lose weight and tone up" comments- But I have lost weight, and I do excersise- but the fat roll has stayed the same size, when everything else has shrunk.
If anything- losing weight has made the fat rolls appearence WORSE.

Does anyone else have this? Or know if it is a sign of fatty liver disease?

If anyone does have it, please post a picture?

I can't post a picture of mine- I feel like the only person in the world who has it :(

Probably unlikely at your age, but that doesn't mean there isn't some indication now. Go see your Doctor and don't be embarrassed, your Dr deals with all types of health issues, that's their job.

holy omg..yes I have this!! see pic here http://mysite.verizon.net/qduval/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/img20130718_003626.jpg

I have googled this several times over the last few years, finding little information on the subject...I am not glad that you have it..just glad to have company in my misery...I am 27 and have had this "roll" for about 6 years now. I too am overweight, have been all my life. in 2005 I lost a lot of weight got down to a BMI of 30 from a BMI of 38 from 2003 (about 50lb loss). Around 21 I began getting these intense food cravings and by age 24 I had gained 100 lbs and had a BMI of 47.8. In 2010 I had lap band surgery and have lost 40lbs and now have a BMI of 41.2, which is not as fast as I'd like with still 100-140 lbs ahead of me, but at least I am no longer gaining.

Anyway, yes I suffer from this "roll" of fat and it is quite annoying, sometimes on days I am really swollen or retaining fluid, it restricts my breathing slightly, especially when I am sitting forward. you will see from my pic that my left side has a larger "bulge" than my right (this is where stomach and pancreas is liver and gallbladder is on the right) Interestingly enough the only time I did not have the "roll" was after my lap band. When I woke up, they had to tell me not to worry if I did not go to the bathroom for awhile because while they were putting in the lap band, they completely cleaned my entire bowel (I just have this picture in my head of them squeezing out my intestine like a tube of toothpaste lol :) sry gross) I woke up, no joke one of the first things I noticed was zero fat under my breasts!! I had't felt that in over 2 years!

Slowly it began to return after surgery, and now is big again despite the fact that I have lost 40 lbs. I read a copy of my surgical report and it said that my transverse colon was severely distended, pushing my stomach into the upper left quandrant of my stomach, but the word hernia never appeared, and I was told upon awakening that I did not have a hernia. I had an episode of severe colitis in 2011 3 months after surgery, and after doing a ct scan they had said my colon was severely distended again. I do not know what causes this , but I do not believe it is just excess weight, seeing as there are plenty of obese people without this bodily inconvenience.

When I've mentioned it to my PCP they just shrug it off and say its nothing. I am done with docs. I avoid them unless absolutely necessary. I have had a host of other symptoms since right about the time this stupid roll appeared and they do not think any of my symptoms are real, they say I'm totally fine, and refer me to a shrink, so I have essentially given up wasting my time. If you promise to tell me if you ever find out the cause of this "roll", I will make the same promise, seeing as we seem to be the only ones in our 20's with this particular issue :-) Take care.

Hy! a bit late, but I hope you girls get to read me (though I don't have particulary usefull info)

just to say that I have this roll also, I'm on my mid 20's and have been overweight most of my life. Some years ago I managed to lost 20 Kilos and be on a healthy weight, but the rolls didn't go away. I basically lost the weight starving myself and doing crazy amounts of cardio (only) so soon I gained the weight back.

Now I have it ofcourse, and indeed as @cduval writes, it's bigger on the left part, just checked with the mirror, and freaked out a bit, cause it never occur to me that it could be a dissease.

So what to do next? I was planing to lose weight again in a healthy way, but maybe I should check first with a doctor? I've been going to a endocrine for other hormonal issues, but maybe this was the underlying cause of all the crazy hormons and cholesterol and insuline :( but probably he'll say I'm paranoid, yes, sometimes it's better not to lost time with them ( as crazy as it sounds, but sometimes they don't want to investigate any futher)

So is there anything that I can do on my own? herbs? foods?

I hope you all are achieving your goals and being healthy

    Lots of love!

I had nonalcoholic fatty liver disease a few years ago. Although I'm not really sure what the fat roll or liver roll thing means. I've been overweight for a few years now, so I may just not see it or seperate it from any other fat I see. Anyways, I found out I had it because I had some lab work done & my liver enzymes were off the chart crazy. Then they sent me to have an ultrasound done on my liver. Yes it was embarrassing but I needed to hear it. I stopped eating so much fast food & started taking Vit D everyday & about a year & a half later my liver is fine. Everything came back normal.

I thought I had breast cancer when I was 11 and started getting very slight breasts. You don't need to be stressing over this. If it helps you talk to your doctor, roll or no roll, you're super pretty, and everyone deserves to feel comfortable talking about health issues.

I have NASH, which is a lot like fatty liver. I did not have an out-of-place roll of fat that looked like extra boobs. I did have a big old belly that was further out than the girls. Not anymore. :)

Embarrassed to do a healthy thing, like visiting the doctor? That's crazy. If you said, "I don't want to get regular check-ups and catch possible disease early. I'd rather wait until I have symptoms and let disease progress," that's something I could see being embarrassed by, lol. You should be in there every year or two. You get your oil changed, right? Don't say, "Yes, but keeping my car in good order is much more important than my body and life."

Call them up, get a physical.

And don't stress about stuff you read online. It takes many years of schooling and test results to be able to diagnose. You cannot get good at it by googling. Diagnoses cannot be made online! And they really cannot be made by people who don't know wth they're doing. Don't diagnose yourself using google. :)
