New to this site.... Please talk to me....

Hello Everyone,

I'm Kamalevantis,or K for simplicity sake lol

I have been losing weight since November 2012 and so far I have lost 5stone 8lb, my intention is to lose 11stone 11lb in total, so only another 6stone 3lb to lose.

I am almost 40 and was determined not to be 20stone plus by the time I actually hit the big 4 0, so last November I decided to give myself a target of getting below 16stone by my 40th birthday..... and here I am.

I am married with a teenage daughter, I deliver curries for a local Indian Restaurant / Take Away (I've been working there for almost 3 years) and I use my exercise bike every morning and do a kettlebell workout every other morning, I also do some Kundalini yoga after every workout session; I also try to go swimming once a week.

I used to walk miles, but due to falling in the snow (in December 2010) I have a hip problem, which means that I can't walk for very long before I end up in agony, apparently the NHS won't X-ray me and they have pretty much told me to "Go away with these pain killers and stop complaining" so I am stuck with this painful hip.

Anyway, I think that should cover it....

Thanks for reading

Love K

Hey there. I'm Rilzy. I'm 23 and I joined about 2 week ago. Congrats, trust me you won't regret this. Tracking your calories will make a significant difference (at least it has for me) and My Fitness Pal has made it so easy. The support is great also. I'll add you both as friends so that we can motivate each other.

Also, have you considered swimming. It is very low impact on joints which may help with your hips. Stupid NHS though. I've read of them paying for people's breast implants - surely this is more important. I hope you find someway to deal with the hip because as a sufferer of Fibromyalgia I know that pain is not a walk in the park to deal with.

Before I give you some websites to read I do want to address this. I've studied medical law at university and I normally do not agree with makes a claim against healthcare professionals unless the circumstances are exceptional, but this is simply unacceptable. While it may be the case that your hospital wants you to lose a bit of weight before you are given an x-ray, they should not dismiss it if it is still a problem after 2.5 years. Please go and speak to the citizens advice bureau or a law clinic at a university. You should first press your doctor about getting an x-ray, if s/he continues to refuse change your hospital or GP until you can get an x-ray or save up for a month or two and get private checks done, eg by BUPA etc.

Anyway, the fundamentals of nutrition can be found is one or more of the below links, but you should read all of them:

    Hi Haroon_Awan,

Thank you for the advice, I will check the sites out. I have already lost 5stone 9lb and they are still being useless, but I have an appointment at the GP on Monday, so I will remind them I am still in pain.
