Body Type Questions

Having difficulty discerning body type because I'm overweight. I'm pretty sure I have a small build under here. And my weight gain/loss is directly correlated to my intake- if I eat a lot, I gain quickly but if I cut back I also lose quickly. So do you have any suggestions on how to determine what my body frame is regardless of my body's current condition?
Stats :5'2", 140 lbs, 4.5" wrist

    From nih.gov website:

    Body frame size is determined by a person's wrist circumference in relation to his height. For example, a man whose height is over 5' 5" and wrist is 6" would fall into the small-boned category.

    Determining frame size: To determine the body frame size, measure the wrist with a tape measure and use the following chart to determine whether the person is small, medium, or large boned.

    Women:

    Height under 5'2"
    Small = wrist size less than 5.5"
    Medium = wrist size 5.5" to 5.75"
    Large = wrist size over 5.75"
    Height 5'2" to 5' 5"
    Small = wrist size less than 6"
    Medium = wrist size 6" to 6.25"
    Large = wrist size over 6.25"
    Height over 5' 5"
    Small = wrist size less than 6.25"
    Medium = wrist size 6.25" to 6.5"
    Large = wrist size over 6.5"

    You're def small framed compared to me. I find it interesting that some people don't agree in the difference sizes of peoples bones, and find "big boned" as an excuse.

    I'm 5'7 188 lbs and have a 7'' wrist. (umm to me that's a difference in bone size)

    It's not the size of your bones it's how you use them

    Maybe she is just curious to see where she stands when it comes to the different, body types, shapes, so and and so forth.

    I don't think it necessarily matters about the size of your bones either, but for someone like me to get down to 120 pounds is gonna look pretty stupid compared to someone who is a smaller frame.

    Body type is irrelevant. It's very debatable that they even exist. Use some sort of meaningful metric such as bodyfat percentage to measure your progress and go from there.

    "Barely". OP, you are the body type "barely overweight" none of the rest of it matters.

    You can be an endoscopic apple shaped b-belly having libra with a chinese astrology sign of ox on the cusp of golden rooster with a hyena moon rising and the instructions for weight loss or fitness will be the same.

    Eat less, move more.

    LOL
    so basically, most of you feel body type related diet/work outs are bs.
    that's actually pretty great because i don't fit any of them.
    which was sort of my original problem/question. thanks

    Well, if your body type is the "not alive" type you aren't going to lose by watching what you eat.
    All others? Calories in < Calories out. Win.
