Gaining weight before losing weight?

After 2.5 weeks of cardio and strength training everyday, as well as a very healthy diet, I expected the number on the scale to drop, however, I went from 140.2 to about 140.8
I was pretty disappointed, as I worked really hard. The following weekend I was unable to follow my weight loss plan because I went on vacation with my family. I didn't eat anything too awful, but I didn't exercise at all. When I came back home, I was 135.8
Is this normal to gain weight and then lose it after taking rest days? And does anybody know why it happens?
Thanks!

Yes, totally normal ... muscles hold on to water when reparing/recovering ... I let someone else explain why in more detail, as I don't feel like typing; I just got done Spinning (without AC, so in 90 degree heat) and I am pooped ...0

If your were training everyday like you said then it may just mean that your body needed a break. It's good to take at least a day off from working out because your body needs to recover. Working out everyday with no breaks may cause your body to release cortisol (stress hormone) and cortisol can cause many things including WEIGHT GAIN.0

I do this exact same thing. After working out, watching what I eat (no junk), everything in moderation. I always know when I am fixing to budge the scales, because I'll gain a pound or two. Perfectly normal, especially for women.0 -
It is perfectly normal, since you are transforming your body the fat will be gradually replaced by gain in muscles mass, the muscles also surround them by water in order to heel after a strenuous work-out. Be patient and wait more weeks to see the results.0
