Hi,

I need some motivational running music. In particular, something fast. I want to know the song you put on when you want to motivate yourself to run faster/farther/finish strong... that sort of thing.

OK - hit me with your best tunes!

Thanks!
J

  • LOL I Need the same thing. most of the songs on my ipod are Usher, Lady GAGA, Timberland, Keisha, AC/DC, Nickelback, I have to have stuff with a good beat that are fast and keep me moving. If i listened to country music I would probally never make it on my run. my favorite song to jog to is Apple Bottom Jeans, it really gets you moving.
  • The get going songs I'm currently listening to are In My Head by Jason Derulo, I Like It by Enrique Iglesias, and Rock That Body by Black Eyed Peas. Nickelback also keeps me going. Good Luck!!!

I love the Allman Brothers Jessica in particular because it keeps building and you think it is going to end and it doesn't! I am telling my age though with this suggestion though, aren't I?

Bee Gees, K.C. & The Sunshine Band. Disco is good.

    Here's my eclectic contribution.

Depends on what you like, but Eminem's whole new album is really motivating to me, and of course, his "Loose Yourself" is a classic running song.

For something more mellow I really like Alexi Murdock, or Tom Petty (running down a dream and American Girl are pretty motivating).

Little is more motivating than "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera.

"Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas is a classic. The lyrics aren't necessarily inspirational, but the beat is perfect.
Jimmy Eat World has some great fast songs with good inspiring lyrics- "The Middle" is my 'this run stinks, but I'm gonna be okay' song. Kings of Leon also has a lot of good music.
When I'm totally beat and I just want to finish the distance, "You Can't Always Get What you Want" by the Rolling Stones comes in handy.

Love hearing all of your ideas! I'm always looking for new running songs too. I like to run to songs that are very upbeat and kind of edgy/funky/sexy...stuff to really pump you up. :) Some of my favs are:

    Circus, Britney Spears
    Keeps Getting Better, Christina Aguilera
    Promiscuous Girl, Nelly Furtado
    Disturbia, Rihanna
    Poker Face, Lady GaGa
    Work That, Mary J. Blige
Party in the USA, Miley Cyrus
Boom Boom Pow, Black Eyed Peas
    Toxic, Britney Spears
    Fergalicious, Fergie
    Single Ladies, Beyonce
    All American Girl, Carrie Underwood
    Battlefield, Jordin Sparks
    1901, Phoenix
    Imma Be, Black Eyed Peas
Sex on Fire, Kings of Leon
    Bulletproof, La Roux
    Rude Boy, Rihanna
    Shut Up and Drive, Rihanna

My two finishers on my "race" playlist:

"Die Vampire, Die!" from the Broadway show "[title of show]" - I wasn't a huge fan of the show, but this song - which is actually about the voices in your head that stifle your creativity - seems to work to get those "I'm tired!" "I can't do this!", etc. voices out of my head and go.

I follow that up with "I Run For Life" by Melissa Etheridge. Just gets my legs going and keeps them going.
  • Fat of the land, Prodigy. Brilliant for interval training, really makes you want to kick *kitten*!!
