Salt?

Hi Friends,
So I have a quick question: This past week I was eating a lot of fruit and my sodium intake was lower than usual (maybe 1000 mg to 1500 mg each day for 3 or so days). Yesterday, I ended up eating CRUD and my weight went up 3 pounds... Granted, there was a lot of junk in there... But is it likely for me to have gained one pound from this binge? Also, am I more likely to retain a bunch of salt because I did not have a large amount in the days before? I woke up and my rings were glued to my fingers. I could not remove the ring without serious effort due to my hands being so swollen.
Thoughts?

Yep, definitely water retention. You'll drop the 3 Lbs in a few days.0

My body loves to retain water. I am just learning my patterns , so it does not throw me off my gameplan. I know I am going to have a higher number on the scale--or a smaller loss if I have too much salt, eat too many carbs, that glorious week and a half when my hormones are screwed up from TOM, and if I do a really tough workout that makes me sore.
The best thing I have found to help (besides my water pill that goes with my blood pressure meds) is drinking water. I try to get 12-14 8 oz glasses, but have not exactly been hitting the mark lately. If I have a really bad sodium day, I go even more than that. I have totally cut out all of my diet sodas too. Noticing my water retention is SO much better.
Also, if the water retention is due to salt, exercise will help get rid of the salt by sweating.
Water weight will go away in a few days, and if it is bothering you, don't weigh until you notice your rings are fitting better. No need to let water that your body will get rid of in a few days sabotage your great efforts. I have noticed that if I keep up my efforts, when the water weight is gone, I usually have an even bigger loss because I kept doing what I needed to do, even without the scale moving.
Hang in there. It will go away in a few days.0 -
