That is definitely a good tip, if your pet's don't eat it.. Don't Eat it.0 -
I used to be quite an animal rights activist then after dissecting allsorts of creatures at uni I lost my compassion somewhat. Plus I fell into the bacon trap and fell off the veggie wagon :blushing:
I am now a huge lactivist (breastfeeding supporter), hence my profile pic. I spend more time talking and thinking about boobs now than my OH does0 -

My issue is banned on MFP, so no discussing it. :smokin:0 -
I am not an activist, but I am involved in animal welfare. Not to be confused with animal rights. I want animals to be treated humanely and want abusers to be punished for abusing animals. I do NOT want animals to have the same rights as humans.0

I'm also a lactivist but also a huge advocate of human rights, children's rights, and the right to bodily integrity. My main issue of focus is circumcision. I believe it is a violation of human rights and it should be illegal. I honestly dont understand how it isn't already illegal as the constitution guarantees rights to everyone regardless of race or gender (female circumcision is illegal. this is gender-specific and therefore a violation of the constitution). Also, doctors take an oath saying that they will do no harm. Doctors are also not legally permitted to perform a surgery on an unconsenting minor unless it is medically indicated and more conservative treatments have been tried and have failed. Circumcision is done on healthy, normal infants for cosmetic and cultural reasons. To top it all off, it is done before the child has an established medical history. A baby that is an unknown hemophiliac can and may die during the unnecessary surgery. In fact, an estimated 117 babies die each year in this country due to complications following their circumcision (usually either bleeding or infection).0

That's my position. I think animals, both pets and livestock, should be treated with respect and dignity.0 -
Not an activist, just have strong opinions.0

I am not a tree hugger, but I try to lead by example. In 2007 we lost our home to the wildfires in San Diego. We rebuilt to LEED criteria but didn't pay for certification. Out of 1,700 lost structures, thee people rebuilt green. I make presentations on our case history all the time to persuade that it wasn't PROHIBITIVELY expensive or difficult, and the return on investment is about 10 years.
I also clean up toxic messes for a living so recycling, thinking sustainably, protecting groundwater and air and soil, and coming up wit hless costly ways to clean up SUPERFUND sites is (part of) my life, not just my job.0 -
Lactivist, Intactivist! Also women's reproductive rights, GMO labeling, Environmental protection. I don't think this is the best platform for my issues, so I generally keep my mouth shut. I'm just here for the food diary.0

i agree this is a terrible platform. i'm just sick of seeing annoying "am i hot" posts.0

Just..... all-around human rights. I feel we should stop treating each other as colors, genders, sexual orientation etc. and just realize we are all people.
"I am pro-abortion & gay marriage b/c it's NONE of my damn business what you do with your life."0
